Good morning all,
That's week 5's results up...I'll start week 6 after this. Sorry that I haven't been posting as much but between working and the havoc that a trapped ulnar nerve is causing in my life, well...... The nerve pinches when I bend my elbow so when I try to use my phone, drive, use my pc mouse etc some of the fingers on my right hand go numb. It's also been waking me up at night so my sleep has been a bit hit and miss.
This has all caused havoc with my eating habits too. I've been eating anything and everything as I really like this job and I don't want to have to give it up because it's making my problems with my arm/hand worse. I have given myself a severe talking too and last night I asked a couple of medically trained friends for suggestions. Friend one suggested wearing the cuff from my blood pressure machine to stop my arm from bending in the night. Impressively this worked and although I woke up a couple of times it wasn't because of a dead hand.
I'm off out for lunch and a walk with my other friend later. Friend is also trying to lose weight so dessert will not be involved and lunch will be healthy.
Take care all of you0 -

I've just read your message. Ring the nurses now or out of hours GP, I think that's not the kind of problem that is going to wait until you have a GP appointment.
I'll stop recording your weight by all means, but please don't stop posting on here. Let us know how you get on with calling out of hours.0 -

Afternoon Everyone,
Dumpling, I agree. There is something wrong with putting on that much weight. It sounds like some extreme form of water retention or something. You could always call NHS Direct for advice.
I've had a really busy day. I was up a bit later than usual so, although I managed to get to the pool, I had a much shorter swim than usual. I then had an hours tennis - mainly coaching.
As I was walking home from tennis, DS texted to ask if I'd pop into work as soon as I could to help cover a really busy hour. So I dashed home to get changed and straight up to work.
After a quick lunch we nipped into our nearest city for DH to stock up on stuff for his aquarium and took Mum with us. We also called in to the Cash and Carry for work. I picked up an enormous box of mushrooms for £2.49 so have them to process over the next few days. I have just made a big pan of mushroom soup using the stock I made in the slow cooker yesterday. I shall also make mushrooms feature in the evening meal. I shall probably eat quite early rather than take a pack up to work with me as I'm working all evening (but crossing my fingers DS can spare me before the late finish!). We should really have taken the opportunity to go to the supermarket too but I needed to get home and have a break before work. The fridge is looking really bare though.
Lunch: Poached eggs on sweet potato and carrot rosti
Dinner: Chicken and Mushrooms in a creamy paprika sauce with peas and peppers.
Snack: 2 cherry tomatoes.

Dumpling, get yourself checked out and come back for our support whilst you get through this X
Cranky40 I feel your pain as I have it in both arms! Have you got a vertical mouse to use at work and home? Also eBay do a great support to stop your arm flexing whilst you sleep, it's about £10 but makes a huge difference xMortgage started 2020, aiming to clear 31/12/2029.0 -
This is my journey since New Year.
After Christmas my weight peaked at 14st, the heaviest I had ever been. I have been overweight by a couple of stone or so for many years, but usually hover around 13st 8lbs. I'm male under 6 foot
Most of it is belly fat. I have a sedentary job, and a chronic back condition which makes exercise very difficult.
I resolved to try and get to what I consider to be a "Healthy" weight. According to BMI etc this would be 11st 8lbs but anywhere 12st or just under would be ideal for me I think.
I had an Ideal time frame of 6 1/2 months to see where I could get
I used Myfitnesspal app. You can scan food barcodes in or search and have a good idea you where you are wrt to your daily and weekly Calorie goal.
By the End of Feb I was 13st.
During the process I started reading a lot more about diet and have formed some opinions and adapted some different eating habits. These include..
Moving to a Lower Carb lifestyle. Insulin makes you fat, I agree with the evidence
Not worrying about natural healthy Fats
Removing Seed oils from my diet ( no more Sunflower oil) only Olive, Avocado and a little Coconut Oil.
Not eating any processed food as far as possible
Only eating Vegetables that grow above ground ( Lower Carb )
Plenty of Salad stuff/ Avocado
More Eggs
Where possible eat free range/high welfare and preferably locally reared meat.
More Fish.
Limited Fruit as much is just sugar, mainly Berries.
Eating more Nuts
Try and introduce occasional intermittent fasting eg 7pm to 7pm 1x weekly if possible
So at present I'm just above target 2, which is 12st 7lbs.
I still enjoy a drink and meals out. I'm switching my drinking to low carb options until June where possible.
Whether I will get the last half a stone off in the next 6 weeks remains to be seen.
Main benefits I have noticed last few weeks..a reduction in pain from my back and hips, and a more settled stomach generally.
Its not easy thinking up lunches to take to work or evening meal planning without Rice/Bread and pasta but I'm learning.
I do not rigorously calorie count anymore every day, I am just aware, and am trying to stick to 1300-1500 at least 4 days a week. This is relatively easy when you up your fat and protein intake.
Finally I find it useful to weigh myself daily, but only record my weight once per week. I can now fit in 36 inch waist, whereas before 38 was getting tight !!Over £2K made from bank switches and P2P incentives since 2016 :beer:0 -

Hope the pinch nerve eases soon Cranky
I've been picking at rubbish all weekend and combined with my birthday I'm hoping my Wednesday weigh in wouldn't be too bad but I'm fearing the worst and no time to undo the damage. My joints have been playing up recently so my sleeping isn't great either, it was 3am the last time I looked at the clock this morning and I hadn't been to sleep, just as well no work today but it is making me a little grumpy  hopefully tonight will be better
