Hi all :j
Simplicity - think about the simple pleasures in your life which you really appreciate, friendship, family, cake. Focus on those this month as much as you can (maybe not too much cake though). Not especially simple but made a fakeaway meal tonight that was appreciated, some leftovers as well. Also made cake....it did turn out well for a change too.
Persevere - I know that trying to reach your goal can sometimes seem never ending but try to remember that each time you waste money/time it can take you further away from what you really want for the long term. Hah ended up having very little time on my own & mostly doing housework, that wasn't the plan at all. However as I cooked most of the afternoon, hopefully not much if any cooking to be done over the weekend. And definitely not going near any shops either..
Reduce - I wouldn't be me if I wasn't asking you to reduce. Think about what you really need and what will be left at the end, is there a better way to consume. No food waste and am using up leftovers from dinner earlier in the week. Not so good on the non-purchases as bought a handbag (I have loads already) and also a ticket to a wool festival but that was only £3. Have determined that I will now sell one bag of mine, at least one in one out would not increase the numbers.
Invest - in yourself, your family, your home - the things that really matter to you. ATM investing in the home, there are a quite a few improvements both inside & out. This weekend DH says we are tackling the huge climbing plants on back & front of the house...not sure how that's going to go.
New - new month, new beginning. Don't look back at past mistakes and failures, there is nothing that can be done about them, learn from them and move on. Refuse to look back & worry about past errors - can't change them so look forward.
Grab - take life by the horns. Do something which takes you outside of your comfort zone at least once this month. Going to the festival on my own will be outside my comfort zone but I will do it if I have the ticket - hence the £3 spend!
NSDs: Still 2/15
Pay to your debt/savings first and move forward from there. Will pay to debt tomorrow.
Have a budget and stick to it. Also tomorrow.
NO spending in coffee shops, work canteens, vending machines. If you do it needs to be planned in advance and budgeted for. Never go in coffee shops, no canteen, don't use vending machines either. But I still waste money! Will go to festival, already booked for next weekend.
Go turtles!!New start JAN15 - NOT BUYING IT 2015 . Long haul DFW #145 : 2011 DEBTBUSTING : £5500 OD GONE, £2000 OD - GONE £93,610.30 cc & loan debt - GONE 27.6.14 FINALLY DEBT & MORTGAGE FREE :happyhear0 -
Hi Turtles
Up bright & early as we are off to a car boot sale, our first of the year. Then I'm taking DS to see Dumbo:D So today will be a spend day. Yesterday wasn't though so on 4/15.
Car tax bill came through yesterday £60 cheaper than Id been expecting :j So theres now £130 left in the budgetStill need to be careful but it's doable. & hub got his £25 amazon vouchers which we used for cat food to make things a little easier, should do us 3 months.
Our baby group is being stoppedthey've had their funding cut & cannot afford to keep it going so I'll need to look for other groups.
Coffee is calling,have a good day folks...:D0 -
Good morning everyone
Just checking in after reading all your wonderful updates. There's so much positivity here, it's fabulous.
For myself, I think I've got a long way to go. I've printed off Dolly's opening post (thank you Dolly). I'm thinking about what I can do, but to be honest I'm a bit blank on some of them at the moment.
The ones I do know are:
Reduce: am trying to reduce paper and paperwork. I will work on this this weekend.
Invest - in yourself, your family, your home. This one I have definitely let go for a long time, so this weekend I will tackle some housework and also give myself a self-care 'pampering' session.

bestlifenow - the turtle challenges are all-encompassing and do look at many facets of our lives. There is a lot to absorb and each month we look at a different focus. We are all at different points of our journeys, but we trundle along together! As mothernerd says: no turtle gets left behind.NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!0

Plan for today. Cycling first thing (will be off in a moment, it is freezing again though). After a defrosting shower we are venturing into the loft to clear it out in readiness for re-insulating it and re-boarding an area near the hatch for storage, there is quite a lot of baby/toddler stuff up there so it is going to be bringing back some memories.
Just wanted to let you know that Wednesday 24 April is 'Stop Food Waste Day'. I know we are all pretty good at that but it might be worth a mention to others to raise awareness.Debt Free and now a saver, conscious consumer, low waste lifestyler

NSD still 3 - was going to be 4 and tehn OH came home for the weekend and we had an Indian takeaway - £22.80 for the 2 of us with enough left for dinner for both of us tonight, too - so not overly extravagant. Will also spend today - need some groceries
Simplicity - yesterday was spent doing some housework ready for the weekend. Last night both OH and I were absolutely shattered (he's working crazy hours whilst away in the week and I'm even more anaemic than I was previously, despite taking supplements and making sure I eat more haem rich foods and also cutting down on my tea consumption ()) so we literally veg-ed on the sofas and watched tv. He's still asleep so I'll wake him in a mo (I got up at 7.30 with DS3)
Perseverance - lost 1lb this week - I'll take that - I've not been at all consistent!
Reduce - A dress which was given to me (unworn) has gone in CS bag - I like it on the hanger, but the colour looks awful on me! Only bits added to food waste bin have been teabags, the 2 pieces of tomato in my shashlik (bleurgh) and about 2 bites of DS3's roll from his packed lunch yesterday (and that's really because he had much larger rolls than normal as that's what we had in and I couldn't get the smaller ones) Oh - and onion skin.Heating has been back on the past few days - with outside temperatures of 4degrees even late morning and constant rain/ sleet at times I'll allow that
Invest - had a lie in this morning.
Plans for today are grocery shopping (and check out new sch trs for DS2), get DS2 to sort all his school stuff out (everything can get packed away bar the stuff needed for homework over the hols) and hopefully persuade DS2 to start on the much-needed tidying of his room......I am the master of my fate; I am the captain of my soulRepaid mtge early (orig 11/25) 01/09 £124616 01/11 £89873 01/13 £52546 01/15 £12133 07/15 £NILNet sales 2024: £200 -

:rotfl: it means they're not all the same shape and size like you get from the supermarket. But as I chop them up mostly it doesn't matter to me0 -
Still on 0/12
I cleaned the bathroom after the kids went to school on Friday, opened one of the cupboards to find 1 single solitary loo roll looking back at me:eek:, so had to go out and get emergency supplies. While I was at it, I did the usual tour of the c/s and after 2 hours I had spent £1 on 2 books. At least it was a low spend. Last week was all within budget, which is a :j.
Today will not be a NSD as I am going to the market and the supermarket and then planting seeds in loo roll inners (those we have hundreds of:rotfl:).
I am looking forward to the last week of term.
I am trying to get closer to my puffin-plan-project.
I have a job interview tomorrow - it says it can be up to 2 1/2 hours long.4/10/22One Year Mortgage Free Yay!
