Morning m'ducks,
Another lovely sunny day. May as well enjoy it, as the forecast seems to be predicting colder temperatures next week. mr f has had to travel to a conference today so despite it being Saturday, I'm on my lonesome until much later. Never mind, I'm getting quite a few things done & also intend to have plenty of leisure time. Frugal things today:
*Kitchen scraps for the garden birds today to eek their seed mix out a bit longer. They stuff themselves with this seed so much, I'm frankly surprised they can still fly!
*2 low cost pork joints de-rinded, fat removed & gone in the slow cooker for pulled pork. All the other ingredients are stuff we always have i.e onions, 'use-it-ups' such as tomato ketchup which we somehow acquired but neither of us really eats & just standard store cupboard stuff. Will serve with warm home made garlic flatbreads (freezer) & a salad bowl.
*Overnight load of laundry done on Economy 7 - I don't usually do any washing at the weekend (my whole household washing system is based around managing my dislike of ironing), but it seemed a good day for getting big towels laundered & pegged out to dry on the whirlygig for free.
*Checked baby vegetable plants - removed bottle cloches from chillies & tomatoes to let them get some air. Peppers germinating, cucumbers are all up & aubergines all still alive (fussy devils, aubergines....one hint of anything they don't like & they go down snivelling)
*Water all greenhouse seedlings, cuttings & overwintered plants which will soon be allowed out.
*All free leisure today - knit more cardigan, read more of my book, continue with another episode of series I'm currently watching.
*Bake the sourdough I mixed up last night - it's still being a bit lazy about rising, so have moved it into the warmer conservatory.
*Free fitness today will be assorted garden jobs.
*Make a list of everything I need to do on our city centre trip tomorrow - so far, we can't even decide which city centre to go to! Transfer useful vouchers & any cash from relevant savings piggies to my bag. Put broken item to be returned by the front door so I don't forget it, as I do want to get a refund.
*Soak in bath plus hair wash - am still using up the mountain of shampoo & conditioner found while clearing out my Mum's house. Much as it is much easier to bin things, it just didn't seem right with things I could use, partly because Mum had bought them to use & it seemed a waste & partly because of all the plastic. Somehow all that plastic waste just seemed worse if nobody was even going to bother to use the products, iyswim.
I think that will be it for today, as I will doubtless get waylaid by nice garden jobs like potting things up & clipping stuff, although secateurs & my poorly hand don't go together very well atm.
Enjoy your weekends, all.

Afternoon all. We've got the makings of a dust storm brewing on site, so everything's getting nicely sand-blasted outside, so everything (including yours truly) has been buffed to a fine shine!
My wife's shopping trip turned out to be expensive. It wasn't unexpected, and I keep a little "shopping with friends" reserve on the quiet, just in case
I'm suffering a little from decision paralysis today, regarding what to do with my small but growing pot of cash, given that a good chunk of MSE's money fountain strategy is closed to me... ho hum, will keep reading. I don't really want to venture into the savings board until I've at least the inkling of a plan.
Small stuff: quick check of all the accounts, enter a few scheduled transactions into the ledger, nudge the boss to find out when I get to go home. Exciting life, this...0 -
Hello
This is a weekend that is going to be good for the soul. I have managed to spend time today with my bestie, and have also seen my dad. Then am spending some of tomorrow with my mam and my sister. All very good for the mental health without being too spendy.
Other than that I have been doing the bare minimum of schoolwork, enjoying a bit of time crocheting, enjoying a couple of gins (I seem to have a lot of gin in the house at the moment) and trying various things to use up my carrot mountain (other than garnishing gin with it).
Went to Mr M for the weekly shop today and will be hurrying back to Mr S as soon as possible. I love the fresh food they do there, but they don't stock many of our usuals and there were a lot of empty shelves when I was there. A bit disappointing all in all.Not giving up

Can i ask a question, i am not the most brilliant cook but do you have some nice muffin recipes that arent overly hard,i would love to cook a batch along with any other snack recipes so i can freeze them and always have some instead of rushing out for snacks for lunch boxes etc
Have a lovely evening all0 -
I use a basic muffin recipe :-
10 oz self raising flour
4 oz sugar,
250 ml milk
1 egg
3 oz butter melted.
I add the ingredients to the bowl in that order but at the egg stage, I add whichever flavour ,
Lemon - grated lemon peel & juice
Lemon and poppy seed- As above but add 2 tablespoons poppy seeds.
Pear and ginger - peeled and chopped pear or 2 ( depending on size of pear) with a generous teaspoon of ground ginger.
Apple and cinnamon - peeled and chopped eating apple with a generous teaspoon of cinnamon.
Lime & coconut - add 2 oz coconut and the grated rind and juice of a lime
Vanilla - Add a good slug of vanilla extract.
Chocolate - I use only 9 oz of flour and make it up to the 10 oz with cocoa powder. Add chocolate chunks or not according to taste or budget.
Maple syrup & pecan - 2 floz maple syrup and 2 oz chopped pecans ( mine aren't keen on nuts do I've used dried fruit at this stage.
Those are the main flavours I've used but you can do carrot. I had this brilliant muffin recipe book and used it so much it fell to pieces, but remember that if you use the basic recipe, you can experiment with flavours galore! Sorry I work in lbs and ozes for cooking.paydbx2025 #26 £890/£5000 . Mortgage start £148k June 23 - now £138k.

Have been busy updating all threads tonight, but this is basically my favourite thread ad it's about doing the right thing every day, I wanted to go on the WINS list as well, but I think it it too much!
I am slowly moving into my new bank account, set up first payments, and early warnings - it really feels like a fresh start.
Line dried all laundry. Had a slightly criminal cup of tea in caf w friend today, but it was really nice, and very relaxing in the sun. Walked 15000 steps yesterday, and 6000 today a lot better than 2000 on an average weekday, looking forwards to lighter evenings and longer walks w dog.
Am ready for meter reading - when npower reopen their website. Why do they always close it on the weekend.
Am very ready to go to bed now. See you on next weeks thread.Isa help to buy: 1000/3000 33%
