What information do you need? I don't understand anything about the kWh and usage etc. Total novice combined with baby brain!

Your opening post was confusing as you stated the meter readings and the months the wrong way round.

So your estimated readings have gone up not down.

They are estimates, your actual reading is about 25% lower? so the actual cost is lower. Again have you submitted the actual to your provider? if you have they will issue revised bill.

ALLWAYS give actual readings NEVER rely on estimates. What do they say about you being unable to switch is it the supposed debt or the tariff you are on?

Sorry for the confusion. I know I should have given a reading upon moving in and every month after but I unwell from complications post surgery. I probably wouldn't be in this situatuon if I was able to. So unfortunately the first three readings are estimates. I have submitted the actual reading now but the bill isn't a huge amount different.

Elsien they have said the estimates are based upon the previous tenants usage. I really would have submitted readings if able to but was in and out of hospital

We were unable to read the electricity meter initially as it was an old dial one but can now submit accurate readings.

Can you describe your meter - is it one with lots of circles which go in opposite directions and the one on the right should be ignored - or a cyclometer type -

(Could some one post typical pictures please) The old dial one is a classic to misread.

What was the opening reading on your very first bill ?
Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill

I am assuming the account is in your name from when you moved in? When you contacted your deemed contract energy provider did they ask for readings?

I also think your direct debit is very low? Have they contacted you to increase it?

Have you actually spoken to your provider re your arrears?

Robin It is the meter with the dials. I watched a video on YouTube how to read it but maybe I'm doing it wrong. I read it left to right and ignored the last dial. When the needle was inbetween numbers I took the lowest number.

The account is in my name. I called when we moved in and they asked for readings but I was In and out of hospital and prioritised my health, it slipped my mind. They didn't ask to increase the direct debit. I spoke to them about the arrears. They said the bill is adjusted for the month I was able to give a reading but not for the previous months, I have to pay what they have estimated. But I did say surely it's obvious my usage is less than estimated!

Robin9 the numbers are just what they predicted. It isn't a commercial property. When I submitted the reading to get online comparisons it said it was comparable to a commercial property. Maybe I'm being confusing, I have have no clue! Sorry. It probably isn't helpful.

were you putting the meter reading in eg. Feb: 60758 (Own reading from meter), instead of annual units used?
