Just saw your link Hasbeen. That's what I did.

The opening estimate reading they've gave on the first bill on 29/09/18 was 78533. There is a random reading on 59193 on 29/11/18 and it states the source is MMR not system or user. Not sure what this means.

Well that's clearly wrong if your current reading is 60758. Have you pointed this out to them?

From the website - MMR (Manual Meter Read):

For the electricity industry then this may mean a meter reader visited the property and took the reading or that a read has been calculated by the electricity industry and a site visit did not take place.

You need to ask them to confirm whether someone came out to read the meter at this point. My guess is that they probably did and those are the readings they should be using.

Robin that is the meter I have and they said the opening reading is an estimate from what the previous tenants used.

Frugal the Feb reading was what I read from the meter directly.

I wish I could post photos. It would be much easier!

Elsien I have pointed this out to them. They are just very unhelpful and I'm getting nowhere! Unsure what to do. I want to pay what I owe but it seems very high. Nothing adds up!

yes, but is that what you were using on the comparison site as your annual usage?

If you're sure your reading is correct then their estimates can't be, so maybe you now need to start the formal complaints procedure.

ETA - you can post photos, use a photo hosting site and put up a broken link then someone can put them on for you.

    Hi,

were you putting the meter reading in eg. Feb: 60758 (Own reading from meter), instead of annual units used?

    Good point.

60758 in Feb les 59193 in Nov is 500 units a month, 6000 a year. That's high and would give you a bill of £1000.
Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill

Elsien I will confirm if someone came out. I'll try and look at a photo hosting site. Have a baby so might not have time to figure it out!

Frugal I put that number in as monthly. Is it yearly then?

Is that £1000 a year Robin? I don't know what would make the bill so high. Everything is switched off when not in use. It's just me and a baby! No heaters.
