Fair enough Loopy, when your CPU goes from zero to 25%, a corresponding ' something ' will go up by that 25%.

    - what is that ' something ' ??
    - it will show in the same ' processes tab '
    - and that process is what's causing your problem !
    - and then we will go back to - ccleaner / tools / startup, what's in there ?

But first completely uninstall firefox, use ccleaner to clear all cookies & registry entries

You install maxblast, and do a backup to the external drive, what don't you understand. Any other backup software will follow the same process, this produces an image which makes full system restore easy.

Sorry, I was being polite and asking nicely so that those of us following a "Backing Up" thread wouldn't have to follow your support for a slow-running PC.

    I'll know better next time.

    - As was I, being polite that is, I said "" If you have decided, you yourself contact the mod and get it moved. I'm happy with that ! ""

    - My responses to the O/P were in the wrong thread, and I agree should not have been there, I'm happy with that !

    - You appear to have ' done your duty ' and frightened away someone needing help, I'm not happy with that !

    - Unless the O/P re-appears on this thread I'll leave it where you intended .. .. . empty !, I'm happy with that !
