The vast majority of people who come here seeking advice get it in tons, and with just a modicum of common sense, and minimal intelligence, can soon see which advice is or is not worth followng.......

The problem arises when a (usually bored, regular) poster either

    * gets fed up repeating the same advice endlessly and chucks in an impatient "read the link" response, or
    * throws in an additional moral argument on top of the legal/practical advice, or
    * adds some (occasionally dubious) humour

I'm guilty of all 3 and make no excuse. It keeps me sane & chuckling slightly..............

I suppose common sense is all too infrequent sadly.. I gained some help over something I thought I was experienced in and when in a stress couldn't see the forest for the trees... probably why I've stuck around for a while

What I do find is that when someone wants advice it appears they want an opinion that falls on their side and they find it very difficult to understand that they are wrong ..allegedly

It takes all sorts and hopefully the person in question for whatever reason is allowed back on as advice and experience is valuable but all so similarly mods, just like on many other forums seem to take an easy way out in regulation ..rather than questioning the one person that takes offence enough to report it is easier to suspend...rather infantile IMO but there you go

    PM the Mods?

    Start Poll?

But I doubt it would make a difference. Happy to be proved wrong though - you reading this Mods?

Do you ever re-evaluate your decisions? Take account of a poster's previous positive contributions? Listen to strength of feeling expressed by forumites........??

They do, DunstonH was reinstated but I think that involved people tweeting Martin Lewis directly to sort it out.

I have started a ‘Bring back Pixie’ thread please post and comment. Thanks
  • This seems very wrong to me. Whatever Pixie has, presumably, said in one post to cause offence to someone, it is heavily outweighed by the help and advice she has given in hundreds of other posts in this forum.

The world's gone mad :rolls eyes:

Hmm. I think I'd quite enjoy a little telling off. Shall I moon/flash the mods or something

One of Pixie's great strengths was her extensive knowledge of the Scottish legal system; something that remains fragmentary among many Sassenachs and others on this board.

I don't suppose the mods took any account of that, or understand the disservice they've done to those in Scotland who may need help here.

what a crazy decision when certain crash related posters remain

What a crazy decision when certain posters with a vested interest in house prices remaining high and rising get to stay.

Don't quite understand - read this thread yesterday evening and Pixie then and now still seems to be a viable member? No PPR by their name or any other indication they are barred from posting? Have I misunderstood?

I received an infraction or some such nonsense for a comment I made. Apparently it's worth points but I don't think points make prizes.

It is ridiculous - the mods claim they don't have time to read everything but hand out yellow cards and bans with impunity. I think they have a duty to make sure they are making the right decision but they don't so....I spend more time on Reddit these days. Much more robust, decent mods and less snowflakes make for more honest commenting and interesting debates.

If you want the thread you've started to get traction (and it will not make a jot of difference) then you need to link to it in this post.
