PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING: Hello Forumites! In order to help keep the Forum a useful, safe and friendly place for our users, discussions around non-MoneySaving matters are not permitted per the Forum rules. While we understand that mentioning house prices may sometimes be relevant to a user's specific MoneySaving situation, we ask that you please avoid veering into broad, general debates about the market, the economy and politics, as these can unfortunately lead to abusive or hateful behaviour. Threads that are found to have derailed into wider discussions may be removed. Users who repeatedly disregard this may have their Forum account banned. Please also avoid posting personally identifiable information, including links to your own online property listing which may reveal your address. Thank you for your understanding.
We're aware that some users are experiencing technical issues which the team are working to resolve. See the Community Noticeboard for more info. Thank you for your patience.

Following the sad demise of Money a couple of weeks back, Pixie has also now had her knuckles rapped by the thought police and decided their lack of appreciation of her contributions outweighs any feel-good benefit she gets from the forumites she does help.
I totally understand.
One day I too will sign up to mumsnet (or whatever......) instead.

Oh no, why are they stripping out all the personalities?0

What a shame - Pixie is/was a much valued contributor and should be allowed back ASAP.
Thought Money was back posting a few days ago?0 -
From a new person, maybe some contributions may feel like professional advice when any forum is just opinion .
I suppose any strike off is due to reporting from a particular post , could that possibly be a problem?
I have only started commenting as I am now retired but I hope some don't take what I say as right.. god forbid, I only can comment on what has happened in my experience and the outcome
I'd hate anyone to act on what I have posted instead of asking their own legal advisors0 -
Its unfortunate the forum moderators don't give or have much time for moderating the forum. Simply receiving a complaint seems like justification to sanction someone.0

Pixie is/was a valued and respected contributor. I sincerely hope she will continue posting here, one way or another.
Best wishes Pixie!0 -

You're right. But the strength of a forum like this is that we (contributors) correct each other. But yes ultimately anyone seeking knowledge or advice must pick the wheat from the chaff and decide for themselves (or pay a professional).
I suppose any strike off is due to reporting from a particular post , could that possibly be a problem? Yes. And (in my view) some posters take offence too easily and hit the 'report' button prematurely.
Free speech is far more important than protecting over-sensitivities. What's happening on university campuses these days is shocking - but that's a whole other debate!

You have every right to comment on your experience.
It may or may not be typical.
It may or may not accurately reflect the legal position.
But someone else will soon correct you if your advice/experience seems misleading or unhelpful and that's exactly how the forum should work.
I'd hate anyone to act on what I have posted instead of asking their own legal advisors
The problem arises when a (usually bored, regular) poster either
* gets fed up repeating the same advice endlessly and chucks in an impatient "read the link" response, or
* throws in an additional moral argument on top of the legal/practical advice, or
* adds some (occasionally dubious) humour
I'm guilty of all 3 and make no excuse. It keeps me sane & chuckling slightly..............0 -
Is there any way other posters can protest against a forum eviction?0

Start Poll?
But I doubt it would make a difference. Happy to be proved wrong though - you reading this Mods?
Do you ever re-evaluate your decisions? Take account of a poster's previous positive contributions? Listen to strength of feeling expressed by forumites........??0
