Toffee Vodka success (merged with other flavours)

It is unlikely that the stuff you put in the Vodka will increase it's alcohol content. Vodka is distilled and there is no live yeast in it to convert the sugar to alcohol. Yeast dies at about 20% anyway. I expect what is happening is the mouth is getting confused with the sweet taste and alcohol making it feel warm and burning.
Anyway. Sounds like a good idea, I think I will try a bottle... Thanks:DNO to pasty tax We won!!!! Just shows that people power works! Don't be apathetic to your cause!0 -

Thanks for saying that about the sugar does not turn to alcohol. I think people remember the (beer) advert where it says "the sugar turns to alcohol". The reason it tastes strong is that vodkas is 37% ABV simple as that.
BTW I used Tesco Value toffees and it worked fine......0 -

What should this stuff smell like. Okay, so I've put the toffees in the vodka, the toffee has dissolved, but it still smells like neat vodka. Should I add more toffee, or does it just need time to mellow? Thanks.Official DFW Nerd Club - Member # 593 - Proud To Be Dealing With My Debts!0

mine only has the feintest smell of toffees - i just went and smelt it especially for you
It still smells very much of neat vodka though.
Pop it in the freezer for an hour and then taste it.
Then you will know whether you need more toffees or notSometimes it's important to work for that pot of gold...But other times it's essential to take time off and to make sure that your most important decision in the day simply consists of choosing which color to slide down on the rainbow...0 -
