I'm doing fruit salad and starburst. The fruit salad one looks fine but the starburst one looks a bit scummy on the top which doesnt want to mix in. Anyone any ideas please?

You could try using a coffee filter to strain it and filter off the scum :)

I too can say werthers vodka is lovely:p

I've also had success with raspberry vodka - didn't use measurements, just threw them in - be warned though you will end up with a greater volume of liquid owing to the raspberry juice. Taste with a spoon every few days to see how much sugar you need to add.

Just made lemon vodka - used three whole lemons chopped, and the zest and juice of a fourth with a small bottle of cheapo voddie. Got two more batches on the go. Again keep testing for sweetness, but don't leave too long or the bitter pith starts to get into the flavour. Ends up tasting like the middle of lemon merangue pie:T

  • I made a Wethers one and cola cube one last year for New year. It's was soo strong that even the hardened drinkers at my party wouldn't drink it. I'm going to try them with it again this year. :p

  • anyone tried the cheaper half percentage vodka. our local shop sells vodkat at 5 quid and it's only 22% approx. wondering if this would work the same as it would be cheaper and also not blow your head off:rotfl: ?

I made my pear drops with this as had ran out of smirnoff. Only difference I would say is that it takes the flavour on even more than normal(very peary) but I was pleased with that

As to the fruit salad and starburst vodkas, they went in the fridge weds night and I was ill yesterday so forgot all about them till this morning. They both have gone like a cloudy colour, the fruit salad is a lovely pink and the starbursts a sort of orangey pink. they smell lovely just like the sweets. I dont drink so will have to get OH to try them later if he will. I think I will leave the filtering until hes tried them.
