I agree with the small amounts in different accounts. It works for me too when larger amounts do not as I just feel them too much!
If you have built castles in the air, your work should not be lost; that is where they should be. Now put the foundations under them

    Emergency fund 100/1000
    Buffer fund 0/100
    Debt Free (again) 25/072025

Could you commit to saving x amount every month by standing order to a savings account then it’s treated like a bill. This is what I’ve started doing.

Great news about the £400 you didn’t know about :j

That what I have been doing, I save 400 a month - 200 in the HTB, 50 each for summer, Christmas, Insurance(cleaned out to pay the CC) and emergency in a weird Sainsbury's account. I do need to save more.

Yes. I don't notice the 20 quid....like a lot of other 20 quids that go to Amazon.....

Everything here in real life is fairly sucky, I saw my friends which was lovely, like really good but came home to a very unhappy mum. She is sad she can't go to the funeral tomorrow but really isn't well enough. I don't think I said but our neighbour's son died. All so sad and heartbreaking. I am going to represent Mum really.

Not a clue what to wear.

    hello

I ended up wearing a skirt and top that I wear to work, wasn't overly impressed with the wearing of the tights mind.

So the funeral is done with and it was very strange. Am glad Mum didn't come really, it was very sad, there is an argument in the family so it wasn't a very balanced service and there was no sharing of the memories and lightening the load of the grief you get when you share happier times.

Another creep on the online dating has bitten the dust. I am getting very tired (and a bit hurt) by it all.

I think today is just a tough day.

I am going to work on some goals for August (a la Emz)

  • Did you finish your dental work? I’ve already given you my confidence boosting feedback ;)

    Thank you :)

And no I didn't. dentist is on maternity leave......

  • Right.

    1. My regular use CC
I had to buy new sides for the rabbit housing (94 pounds) I also bought a journal and some stickers (15) and I did buy some summer clothes (60 pounds) on the CC. It is 170 pounds. I am going pay this off with a mixture of returns (I am fat!) and money I make from selling stuff online.

    2. My Savings
The four hundred pounds is a bit of a boost for the target of 5000 by Christmas (tho I do have to pay for the car tax and insurance in November) IF and it is a big IF I should have 2310 in my savings account by the end of the month. This won't be in one place cos I will just spend it, I will set up the standing orders to move it from account to account - I think I get interest? am not sure.

    3. The house
Spend August gutting and re arranging the house. I am so ashamed of it at the moment. I know it is because I work full time and spend Saturday doing family stuff. I resent spending Sundays doing housework so I don't (!) Went into my neighbour's today and her house is lovely, smaller than ours, we should be living like kings and we aren't! Mental!!

    4. Health
Every time I fancy chocolate I must eat fruit first. Then chocolate. Also walk a minimum 5000 steps a day.

    5. Extras
Do more with Swagbucks, I have 25 quid in there at the moment! And sell on FB and E bay. also cash in the various copper pots I have hanging about. gather it all up and stick it in the savings!!

  • I think you should avoid using the hidden savings for car stuff. You would have found the money for that from somewhere when you had to.

  • Ok so domestic life is sucky. The dogs for reasons known only to themselves have become frightened of the back garden. I think it is because it is such a mess out there - the stinging nettles are 5 foot high and there is too much you can't see but I am not sure. Don't get me wrong there is a whole well maintained lawn! but they are reluctant to go out and I sometimes either have to go out with them or just put them out there and shut the door - which isn't ideal but when I was looking after mum there wasn't an option.

Of course the result of this is that they are peeing (and pooing _pale_) in the kitchen and the conservatory. The thing is I think the conservatory situation must have been going on for a while as I found some interesting stains........Yesterday the door was open virtually all day and they still peed in the kitchen :(

I do think Mum forgets to let them out (when I am at work) and dog 2 won't bother you to go out so he has a tendency to wee in the kitchen and now dog one seems to have started. I just don't know how to get them out out of it. I think I will make a point of taking them out every two hours?

In general everything here is pretty depressing, there is so much to do in the house and with Mum being so unwell and easily stressed I can't do a lot. Yesterday was rubbish as she had the hairdresser come over and I had to sort the downstairs for the millionth time which meant everything homeless in my room. And she thinks this is normal. It really upset me as I did think the regular visit of the hairdresser would force her to keep things tidier but it hasn't. I get why. We are both really unhappy and it is hard to be bothered but I think part of the reason is that the house is in such a state. it is heartbreaking. Once we were house proud!

I am going to see how mum is today and if I can tackle my room, that might help me. I am not sure how to help Mum.

    Need to get on. xxxx
