    A Thinking Day

I didn't go to Homebase, wasn't enormously happy to leave Mum alone, and I need to think about my spending.

Instead I pottered about, watched a Jack Reacher film (really good), cooked dinner and wondered what to do. Mum's health scare has brought things in to sharp painful relief. I may well be out of debt (due to PPI) and have savings (also due to PPI! and ok some saving) but I seriously need to up my game.

The Help to Buy is at 1800 ( 2000 as of 1st Aug)
    Christmas - 350
    Penny a Day - 621
Once I get the PPI I will have 1767 in savings. (am using a 100 to fix the rabbit housing - don't ask, I feel like it is the pet version of The Money Pit)

If I wanted to buy a buy to let I need a 25% deposit( so at least £25000 if I bought a decent property up near my friend, much less if I bought a small flat - but they don't seem to make a lot in rent). And if I get the opportunity to buy this place then it will be all the money in the world.

I need to reassess the plan. Obviously I am no longer paying off debt and must work really hard not to be in debt.

Everything has to be about savings.

My first target is to have 5000 in my Emergency/Insurance account and 3000 in my Help to buy by the end of 2019. It is ambitious as it works out as about 600 a month (!)

I am worried about my work situation as well. But am tired now. I will think about it tomorrow.
    Nevertheless she persisted.
  • Just randomly reading the forums about banking benefits (I know how to live!) and thought ooo once I get the PPI I should send it round my old accounts.

So I logged into the TS Bee and discovered I have 400 pounds in the account!!

I am such an idiot! I last logged in August last year and was again caught with BIL in hospital and I left the 184 in the account, anyhow I also have been sending it 20 quid every month!! hence the four hundred pounds.

so I shall do the shifting of money, see if I still get any benefit from it.

    I am really shocked.

  • Thanks Juliejim :)

It does feel like a sort of non event/cheat cos I used the PPI but it was costing me 11 -15 quid a month and that bothered me.

Mum is doing a little better, still tired but eating ok.

    Things I have learnt

    1. Me paying small amounts of money into different accounts is a sneaky way of me fooling myself into saving. I am going to utilise this.

    2. My period is due (I can tell as I am once again questioning all life choices and feeling like a failure)

    3. Online dating is a nightmare.

    4. Picking up stuff from FB is also a nightmare.

    5. I have toothache. I didn't really learn that. it is just there. Annoying.

I am aiming for the first of August to be my re start. Until then I am just going to hang in there. I don't know how I am going to myself out of the !!!! show that is my life but some how I shall.

Hit me with your best self care and self help tips people.

Could you commit to saving x amount every month by standing order to a savings account then it’s treated like a bill. This is what I’ve started doing.

Great news about the £400 you didn’t know about :j
I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)
