Life savings shouldn`t be anywhere near property IMO, far too risky now.

I spent my life savings on a house 6 years ago, then 7 months ago spent my life savings again on another house when we moved. For most people its the only option...

I personally would never buy a new build. Too poor build quality and too many snags. That's just something you have to accept with them. This doesn't mean you shouldn't put maximum pressure on the developer to put things right. You have spent hundreds of thousands of pounds you deserve to have it right.

Nothing you can do about overpaying unfortunately. This can happen new build on or not. For example my house cost £330k 7 months ago. It needed fully renovating from top to bottom. We spent over £45k doing it. There is now an identical house for sale around the corner, it has a big extension needs maybe £15k spent on it and its on for £325k so we overpaid by about £40k too... That's life.

To add insult to injury the carpets, appliances, kitchen etc is all standard issue as it is the same as theirs.

That doesn't make it standard issue, they may have negotiated a higher spec too.

Does your house match the spec you were promised? That's all that's important, what they put into next doors doesn't matter.
  • Makes a big difference at the peak of the bubble (now) compared to the start of the bubble (then) The OP is probably massively over-paying for a basic shelter anyway, the neighbours getting 30k off just adds insult to injury. How much did you pay for your house?
I paid £1,500,000 in September, next door has just gone at £1,600,000

You need to remember Crashy has wrecked their future by making a terrible decision a decade ago and their only chance of not taking the mistake to the grave is for there to be the biggest house price crash in history.

Living with such a bad decision every day seems to have lead them to become rather single-minded.

Where a major reason for Persimmon potentially losing HTB is poor quality and failure to fix.

HTB will make the govenment 100's of millions over the next 20 years (esp now they have ringfenced the 20% so they cant lose if houseprices fall)
Got a link to that rule change?

You think I’d let someone like you know where I live? I know you’re not quite right, but surely even you understand that normal people would never in a million years advertise where their home is to someone who displays the issues that you do.

General area will do, just so we can see where prices are surging ahead.
