Is it true some new cars don't have a spare tyre to save space, and replace it with a tin of puncture repair stuff.
If it is, and legal, the spare tyre and wheel is a pretty hefty piece of kit. What about ditching the spare and carrying a couple cans of whatever that stuff is?
Just don't go and fill the well with more stuff!

    3. Don't fill your car up.

Agreed as long as you drive past or close to the Petrol station. In the rurals where I live, I have to make a 7 mile round trip to fill 'er up. For me it is more cost effective to brim the tank than use the extra fuel for more frequent visits to the local gas station.

Also with the whole don't fill up thing:- currently, as has been noticed, fuel seems to be going up in price daily so aren't you better off filling at say 124.9 than half filling at that price then having to add fuel later in the week at 126.9?

I've been keeping an eye on the price of a barrel of oil lately and noticed over the last 2 weeks the price has dropped from $135 a barrel to $122 a barrel.

Why is the price of fuel still rising then??

The government say they are not making any more money out of the fuel because its just the oil price from the suppliers that are going up.. and not the tax rate.. But what about the extra VAT they have made? In the last year fuel has gone up in some places by about 50p per litre (diesel especially).. and based on VAT being 17.5% thats an extra 8.75pence per litre they're making.. - and me being a HGV driver that takes 550 litres to fill up the lorry (3 times a week) thats an extra £145 per week.. JUST in VAT for ONE lorry to work.. And they're not getting any extra revenue??? Hrmm..

Its about time we did somthing now..

edit - by the way, im not great with maths so i apologise if figures are wrong..

Figures seem reasonable but VAT is a tax to support the EU and as such does not really help the national governments much. No consolation really of course as we still have to pay it.

Exactly.. Still has to be paid.. and even with the fuel cards we're lucky to save 5p a litre.. All we're doing at the moment is killing everything from the UK and inviting foreign work to come over (as we dont charge them road tax and they can bring enough fuel in to last them the weeks work) and do all our work for a fraction of the price.. - it makes me sick... Cant remember the last time i saw a line of lorries from the UK..

is supermarket petrol worse than BP/Shell/Esso etc for fuel economy - I thought this was an old thing and they were all the same now but people keep telling me there's no point filling up at supermarkets as it's inferior stuff, you don't save any money.....

I dont believe there to be any difference, the only reason that they sell it cheaper than elsewhere is that 9 times out of 10 they're running at a loss, to tempt you into the supermarket to buy higher profit products, as far as im concerned the only different petrol/diesel you can buy are the likes of shell optimax/bp ultimate etc.. of which wont make any diffence to a bog standard car, only supercars and the such like..
