DOH! just as ive switched from them (Why didnt they inform existing customers?) a lot of people must have switched-yes ill be getting 6.5% with Lloyds TSB but its tied up for 1 year!
  • Many Savings Rates will be getting reduced around 1 March

Atm Best Branch Rates are :

Nationwide BS 1 Year Fix 6.15%
Chorley BS 1 Year Fix 6.10%

Loughborough BS 90 day notice 6.10%

Leek BS 5.75% Variable Instant Access
Skipton BS 5.70% Variable Instant Access

After that would depend which Building Societies u have local to u

    Avoid Brittannia BS. ;)http://www.britannia.co.uk/c_savings/product/tax_free/mcisa/prod.html
Thank for that but most of those I've never heard of let alone have one round here. I'm surprised about your britannia  looking today at our local banks 5% is good! what am I missing? We do have an Abbey and can wait until March as we are nearly there but the stuff I read has their mini isa's at 4.35%???? I have a tiny brain, can anyone clarify for me please.

Most people would regard a 5% ISA ( with a probable further reduction around 1st March ) as excuse my language P... poor ...........

Most people would take out an online ISA, Abbey are launching a new Online ISA on 3rd March paying 6.25% variable rate. ;)

If u name some other Building Societies that are local to u, im certain that somebody will link their ISA rates into a thread for u. ;) ( so u have no Nationwide BS in your locality ? )

This might be handy for you, is being launched 3rd March, at this moment in time we cant say if it can be opened and operated at a Branch, further info will be posted when known.

Thanks for the information but I am still confused! On MSE advice, I invested £3000 on 31 March 2007 and £3000 in May 2007 in Barclays cash beater ISA. Does this mean I can transfer this £6000 into an ICE ISa after 6 April and add a further £3600 in that tax year?

Yes u can, in fact u can transfer Barclays ISA funds before April 6th if u wanted to.

Whats the appeal with Icesave ISA considering its not the best rate that allows transfers in.

Someone from Barclays Bank has posted to say that Barclays new ISA can be opened at a branch. ;) ( last years Barclays ISA could be operated at a branch, just that a central Barclays office opened all ISA accounts.)

If I am fully funded in the current tax year (07/08), can I still open a new Cash ISA before April 6th by means of a transfer from the existing ISA's, ie, no new money being used, only existing tax-free monies?

Hope this is clear! If I have an existing ISA with say A & L, paying "0.5%" and they issue a new ISA paying "1.00%" which allows transfers-in, can I transfer out of old and into new? Tks for reading.
