I already posted this in another thread, sorry ...
Hi chaps - I have several, probably very dumb, questions ... I have a cash ISA with Santander, I've just received a letter from them saying the rate will go from 3.3 to 2.5 on 23 March, if I transfer it to another provider before then will I be penalised ?
I also have a cash ISA with Nat West that is only paying 2.5 so I went to NW and said I was going to transfer it all to Nationwide (inc the Santander amount) the lady at Nat West said if I transferred Santander and my existing Nat West ISA to a new account with them (NW) I could get 4.3 on a 3 year tie-up.
Sounds good but am I missing something (and there is no mention of it on this site in the ISA section).
Any advice really appreciated - I have an appointment with there ISA Queen (no not ICE Queen ISA Queen) on Thursday to start the ball rolling .... Roger0 -

Depends if it's a fixed-rate ISA or easy-access. If the latter, the interest will be added when it's transferred/closed, so no penalty.I also have a cash ISA with Nat West that is only paying 2.5 so I went to NW and said I was going to transfer it all to Nationwide (inc the Santander amount) the lady at Nat West said if I transferred Santander and my existing Nat West ISA to a new account with them (NW) I could get 4.3 on a 3 year tie-up.

NatWest is offering 4.2% on a 3-year fix, which is probably the one she mentioned - however it's not as good as it looks, as you don't get this interest rate right away. Have a look at this thread - https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/37698370 -

Hi rogertb,
I did the transfer and 3 yr lock in for 4.2% at Natwest last week , when the deal was advertised to end on Feb 29th. You're right-- this wasn't shown on MSE, but I got the link from moneysupermarket. The following Natwest link says that deal is still on

Hi guys - I have a question.
I have a Natwest e-Isa account that was opened before 14 May 2009 so I did attract a higher rate of 2.75%. However, NatWest have raised the rate on balances under £10,000 to 3% inclusive of a 1% fixed bonus for accounts opened after 1 March.
Would I be allowed to open a new NatWest e-Isa account and transfer the funds from my existing NatWest e-Isa account?
Apologies if I posted in the wrong thread.0 -
As far as I know the e-ISA is an instant access account so you can move your money as/when you like.
I would check that the new ISA allows transfers in from other NatWest products though as it might be for new money only.0 -
Thanks for your reply KTF.
I've been told by an advisor on NatWest webchat that it's for customers who do not already hold a NatWest e-Isa so it looks like Santander's 3.3% Isa might be on the cards.0 -
