    Hey all,

Quick question on behalf of a friend. She says she has around £4/5K and wants to make use of this years ISA allowance. However, would like instant access to the money, and no withdrawal penalties if done so. What would you advise her..?

The Cheshire Direct Cash ISA seems to stand out, but gut feeling wanted me to make sure before I recommended it to her. Or alternatively, I was thinking of the Santander Direct ISA?

Edit: Or also, she has just said she has an M&S card, so maybe the M&S one?

    So confusing!

    Inputs much appreciated. :)

    LG

For any Natwest-->Santander movers out there:
Sent transfer form on 15th March
Account disappeared from Natwest on 23rd March
Arrived at Santander on 27th March

  • Forgive me if this is a stupid question but if I open a Santander ISA with min deposit £2500, then I take money out of the account at a later date and the balance falls below £2500, do I have to close the account completely?

Depends on the terms of the account, i.e. if it has a minimum balance. Not sure about that account in particular but I think most accounts like this have a minimum balance of £1. I'd read the terms & conditions.

I'm interested in opening a 2-yr fixed rate ISA with BM - the one recommended as the highest interest 2yr fixed rate ISA - but the link takes me to their application for 2012/2013 - whereas I thought the deadline for the 2011/2012 is 5th April...

    am I missing something obvious??

thanks in advance for any guidance!

I think you've missed their deadline for 2011/2012 applications now (eventhough the current financial year doesn't end until 5 April).

ahh - is that the case for all of them then? if so - then the countdown to the deadline clock is a bit redundant!! :)

Not sure it's the same with all of them, but some of them have a cut off date as it's not possible for them to process the applications before the end of the financial year.

OK - I guess that makes sense... I'll try some of the others - cos I guess it is better to use up my allowance even on a poorer deal than not at all - and then transfer it next time around?

Yes, that'd work. If you have an instant access one, you can usually transfer whenever you want without any penalty, you don't necessarily have to wait a year (unless you go for a 12 month fixed rate one).
