I got the account number etc online and confirmed by email when I applied but need to wait for information in the post to set up online banking and don't want to transfer money until I can see it arriving.

Not an existing savings customer with them, but I do have a mortgage there (at a lower rate than they'll be paying me interest on my savings  :) )

If you pass their automated ID check, it is all online.
If not, they require a paper form completing (part of the proof of address I assume)
I passed their electronic ID check (they confirmed this) but still have to go through the rigmarole of a few rounds of snail mail before I can use the account- probably not before February
  • Logged in and opened inside 30 seconds as all info is already pre-filled, just had to select monthly or annual interest.

Maybe the ID passed, but not the address part, have you moved recently, or changed electoral role details?

Or maybe they are just inconsistent (but odd with an online application)!

No change of address for 8 years. Electoral roll OK

Barclays Rainy Day Saver (Barclays Blue);  If Barclays Blue current account is in joint names (with 2 DD's), can you open Rainy Day Saver accounts in the two individual names, and with still only the two DD's into the Barclays Blue current account?

No, only one person per account is eligible for the Blue Rewards therefore only one person per account can open the Rainy Say Saver.

"Applied" for Coventry 6 access account. Well, site says they insist on sending you a paper form, anyway. Not received any email whatsoever to acknowledge the "start of application".
    Is that normal for them?
No it's not, I'm new to Coventry and I opened limited access 6 account yesterday. I t took me about 10 minutes, funded it with a test today and all went smoothly
Same here for me, as a new customer all set up and running within about 10 mins - managed online login to see the test £1 deposit (sent from nominated account) had been credited OK.

I had read on here some had problems opening this account so tried it thinking if it had too many hoops to jump through I would just vote with me feet and go elsewhere, but was pleasantly surprised how easy and quick it was (for me) as a new customer to open the account.

Never let the perfume of the premium overpower the odour of the risk
