Think I might be being a bit dense here but I have a YBS internet saver plus v11 savings account. I don’t look at it much, just add money in every now & again.
On the last BoE rate rise I could have sworn the interest rate went up to 2.05% but when I checked it tonight, it’s 2.3%.
When did this change? It was a very pleasant surprise
  • Can a newbie ask a couple of questions please

Do you accrue interest up to the moment you make a withdrawal?
Do you start accruing interest at the moment you make a deposit?

    Yes

You get interest from the day the money gets credited to your account. Often this happens on the day you send a bank transfer or deposit money by debit card where this is offered as a deposit method. In some accounts, deposits made on non-working days, or after a daily cut-off time will only be credited on the next working day. Deposits by cheque can take longer. The crediting rules are usually detailed in the T&Cs.

Tandem Bank seem to want too much information IMO. Started to open a 1year saver with them, they took all the ID stuff address, DoB etc, then said now we need bank account details. Then they wanted Ac No, Sort Code, Ac Name - all standard - but then they wanted access granted to get these details and BALANCE info for 90 DAYS!!!

If I knew that at the beginning I never would have applied, or given any details. It seems super shady and I'm a little disappointed that it's one MSE recommends and has the asterisk * beside  :#

Currently arguing with them about a GDPR removal of the information they got already. Haha.
Is this just to set up an open banking connection? I have tandem, and there are 2 ways to fund, either by sending a faster payment or by linking a bank account via open banking. They can also verify a bank account to link to it via open banking (you can only send a faster payment from a linked/verified account).

when setting up my open banking link, it requires basic information to be shared from that bank account, but for me the options to share balance and transaction history was entirely optional and toggled off by default. So perhaps worth another check?
That's interesting. I may be mistaken and there could have been an option to deselect the sharing of balance information. Unfortunately I'm not in a position to check now :) Perhaps someone else who opens a new 1 year bond account could let us know.

I only posted here to help others out, so if I've got it wrong please let me know. Thanks

Does Gatehouse pay out profit for monthly easy access savers on the first of every month?

I think so, got mine first thing this morning.
But what date in the month did you open it? Was it the 1st, or perhaps very late in the month?

For anyone with the Barclays Rainy Day Saver account paying 5%.

Your monthly interest would have been credited yesterday.  If you had £5k in the account, then take out the interest.  Any surplus over £5k only earns 0.25% interest.

Your current account will have been charged £5 today for the monthly Blue Rewards fee.  You will see £5 has been credited to your Blue Rewards Wallet.  You don't get interest on money left in your Blue Rewards Wallet.  Move it out.  (Back to your current account to negate the fee.)
Thanks for that. Lost £5 though, set up two direct debits when I opened the Blue rewards account (17th), sadly one of them doesn't come out until the 8th. Oh well, live and learn.
