kaMelo said:It is also ill informed to claim Santander are somehow worse based only on anecdotal evidence of forum posters, a bit like thinking trust pilot is an accurate representation.
From my own experience Santander has never blocked any payment ever for me, Virgin RBS NatWest and Chase however have, multiple times but without any compilation of data supplied by the banks no accurate interpretation of who is worst can be made.My evidence may only be 'anecdotal' .... however:Santander HAVE blocked my last three large-ish payments - which in itself I dont have a problem with, as I have (frequently ....!) stated on here. However what I DO have a problem with are their wait times to get anything fixed when they do get blocked (and online banking locked out.....). Wait times of well in excess of an hour are unacceptable - as they have acknowledged with gradually increasing compensation payments on each occasion.I have to say that Virgin have recently rivalled them, having brought out several market leading products and then, obviously 'surprised' by the popularity of the products, not had the staffing levels to cope with the demand,Again on another thread I have spoken about the fact that they (Virgin) are still quoting three to five day response times to secure messages, while I have three outstanding issues not responded to going back at least 14 days (and longer....)

I sold my house in June and, with Santander as the hub, opened multiple accounts all over the place to spread the equity etc. I got blocked out 5 times in the first 2 weeks which drove me mad as, despite satisfactorily explaining matters to their security department 4 times, the system continued to red flag me. However, after a fortnight they/it seemed to accept that this will be normal activity on this account for the time being, and I've been left in peace ever since, despite continually moving cash around.
I always try and remember that if someone had been trying to steal my cash, and the bank's system stood by and watched, then I would not have been best pleased.3 -

And I have read enough stories of people having problems with withdrawing large sums from Santander to be cautious of them.5 -

@kaMelo is dismissing anecdotal evidence by using their own anecdotal evidence.Nick_C said:

Made me smile.
I've got scores and scores of accounts (not bragging just stating facts) with a huge spider web of institutions.
Very, very rarely do I get amounts and accounts blocked. Especially (I mean never) when they are from ID checked external accounts and ones used previously by Santander.
Even rarer (as in never) do I then get the blocked amounts then transferred twice by error.
Fair enough if you (kaMelo) are happy with Santander but the thread drift has occurred with posters replying to a member asking if anyone else was in the position (of having their accounts blocked).

We did the same about 10 months ago and had no problems with Santander. Made a lot of 25k transfers but didn't have any issues.

I've reasonably regularly transferred money into and out of Santander as it's the nominated account for a coupe of our long term savings pots. Never had anything blocked or held as yet, but I appreciate saying that will very likely jinx it - I'm waiting for the most recent in/out to land then be able to leave again tomorrow so we'll see!
Should probably also add that I've not had any bank block me as yet - so not sure whether this is a plus for Santander or not!🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

Just to say although Marcus is 'instant'; if you make a withdrawal after 23:00 you have to wait until 00:01 for it to go through.soulsaver said:

Santander, I have not tried to withdraw any money from them, other when I did a test withdrawal a couple of weeks ago soon after I opened the account. The withdrawal worked without problem (it was only for about £10 !)
