  • I see that the Tesco Internet Saver rate has just been increased to 0.59%, incl a 12 month 0.49% bonus. And their Cash ISA rate is now increased to 0.51%, incl a 12 month 0.41% bonus.
It's a shame that you're unable to review your existing accounts ala Marcus and nudge the rate up.

    Try opening one though!

I just keep getting "Application Time Out" messages and unable to open one.

Tried Chrome, Safari, mobile, same result on each tonight.

    Try again tomorrow perhaps.

Took me 3 minutes, always one of the easiest accounts to open
  • Wonder what going on then?

Try again in an Incognito/Private window. An old browser session might be messing things up.
  • Applied without entering NI number and it went through. Account opened.

    Crazy, but done.

I opened two.  I did get the timeout message with the second one, and my info wasn't saved.  But it was a fairly quick process to do it again.  I have been opening new accounts each time the rate goes up, which meant I had a few old accounts with zero balances.  I gave Tesco a ring and they were happy to close and remove the redundant accounts, which has certainly tidied up my online banking.
  • I find it strange how each time I open a savings account with Tesco, I have to wait for them to verify it's me before I can actually then withdraw money from the new account, if needed.

Did try to speed up process my phone but they're "busy"

I only encountered that problem for the first time today, with the latest account which I opened and funded yesterday.  I wasn't sure whether the application was still in progress, or if the process had been completed and there was perhaps a problem with the account.  So I gave them a call and they said it could be up to 48hrs before withdrawals or internal transfers from the new account are allowed.

My experience is that it's closer to 3 or 4 days
