Where is everyone thinking of moving to when the rates drop on the Santander account
I guess a few like me will be going into the Chase 5.1 if they got offered it.
Just remembered Coventry Triple Access at 5.08/5.2% so will use that as well

Just remember the FSCS protection does not guarantee you can get your mone when you need it. Sure, it is quite quick to kick in within a few weeks of a provider going bust, but if they enter the zombie state, prohibiting withdrawals to protect their cashflow while not actually going bust, your money may be tied up without access for months until they do actually go bust.

Anyone who saved with DotComunity credit union at the time of its demise will know what I am talking about.

Apart from the Post Office, I will use any account that has FSCS protection.

My PO aversion pre-dates the Horizon scandal --- their systems (provided by the Bank of Ireland) were atrocious and so was their customer service. There are plenty of decent other accounts about, usually at better rates than the PO accounts.
I agree with this - even if they were paying 10% interest I would steer clear.

Other than that, I'll use any bank that has FSCS protection and allows accounts to be opened/managed online or via an app.

I'm nowhere near having £85k in cash savings, but I still make sure I've got funds with more than one bank in case there's some kind of problem e.g. a system outage. At the moment this is achieved by having £4k with Santander (Edge Saver) and the rest of my instant access money elsewhere.

Are funds usually in the nominated account the same day as the scheduled transfer (assuming working day)? Or does it start the BACS process and reach nominated account 2 working days after the scheduled transfer?

    From the Skipton app:

We aim to credit any Online withdrawals for £100k or less, made between the hours of 9am-8pm to your nominated bank details on the same working day by Faster Payment. Any requests received after 8pm will be processed the next working day.

Any Online withdrawals where the payment is over £100k will be made to your nominated bank details by CHAPS payment between the hours of 9am and 3:30pm. Any withdrawals requested after 3:30pm will be processed the next working day.

You will be required to call to confirm any transfers that exceed a total withdrawal of £50,000 in a single day. Please note that for any requests made after 6pm you will need to call in the following working day. The above timings are correct after you have contacted us to confirm the transaction.

Has anyone heard about the virgin switch incentive? £1k at 12%, I'm tempted but not sure if it's for new customers only.
