  • What are MSE user experiences with HTB, are they providing good service, fast payments in and out, etc? Do they also occasionally offer other competitive products? Is it worth opening yet another account to just stick £1 in?
Don't think they have an app, usually something that puts me off.

    * T&C's say 30 days notice for any rate decreases. (This sort of info about notice periods might become a well discussed topic in the future)

They've been fine for me so far. Have two 18 month bonds with them. Also had the previous issue EA sitting with minimal funding at 4.55%. Have sent existing customer email to open issue 14 then close and transfer issue 13. Usually takes a few days. If required sooner can call them.
  • Cleared out my Tandem holding bar £1 to Coventry Triple access. We'll be lucky to keep savings int rates at these levels for much longer. I have an uneasy feeling that Banks and BS's may soon trim savings rates a touch.or two.
  • With Cahoot has anyone had problems with them not processing faster payments? I requested a payment yesterday for today and it hasn't been actioned yet and doesn't show in pending. I therefore requested another payment today to a different payee account and this hasn't been processed either. Both payee accounts are in my name and the system recognises the details matched. This is the first time I've tried to withdraw from the account since opening in August.

the weird thing about HTB is that their IT system can't automatically open multiple accounts, e.g if you have an existing open account with them (e.g a fix) and want to open their EA account, you could need to email/phone them... hence why @mebu60 and I have both had to email them to upgrade our existing EA accounts... I too only have a minimal amount in the account... if memory serves, deposits are quick; never made a withdrawal from the EA account though - so don't know if they're as quick or next day... i've had fixed-rate accounts with them and can't recall having any issues.

are you sure that you confirmed the withdrawals?
on the first page when making a withdrawal (assuming the payee already exists), you enter the amount and then press the "Continue" button... that takes you to the next page where you either have to enter the security number and OTP code and/or press the "Confirm" button to authorise the withdrawal.
many's the time i've done the first step and forgotten to do the second (when it's just the "Confirm" button) - so the withdraw hasn't been confirmed and won't occur... nor will it show in pending.

I've made a couple of payments from the Cahoot saver, with no issues - payment was acknowledged by the payee shortly afterwards. I've also transferred money to other Santander accounts.
  • Yes I made the payments, as both times had to set up the payee and both times had to put a OTP code in to authorise the payments. The 1st payment yesterday I set up at 3.30pm and made for today as knew I'd already missed the cut off for depositing into the account I was moving it to. As nothing showed today I then set up a new payee this morning and requested the funds to be moved asap.

Is there any daily transfer limit on the account perhaps - and you were trying to move more than that?  Although if that were the case, I'd expect it to advise you of that fact.

if that second payment has gone through, then it should be mentioned in the "Recent Faster Payments transaction summary"...

i'd also suggest setting up the alerts so that at least you'll get a text/email when any amount (above minimum) has left the account.
if the withdrawal hasn't appeared at the Cahoot end, then it might be worth giving them a call.
