Chorley going to 5.3% , only 1 withdrawal. On their website now and reported on moneyfacts too
"Applicants must live in North West region of England (Lancashire, Merseyside, Greater Manchester, Cumbria & Cheshire) OR hold an existing Savings or Mortgage Account with ourselves"
Existing savings - of course I've just closed the EA as it was minimum £500 and transferred the ISA to Coventry!

Would it work to open two savings accounts with Chorley - a less attractive one first, and then the 5.3% Loyalty Easy Access Saver?
Excellent suggestion, quite possibly. Was a bit underwhelmed with Chorley tbh. If you miss the withdrawal cut-off time in the afternoon it's two working days before you get your funds.

Annoyingly too, because I've got bonds and the FHS with Coventry plus now the ISA, I can't put much into their 5.2% EA either.

Thankfully there's several 5.1%s now as well as Santander's 5.2% EA.

It worked for me with a different BS, so for £1 it's worth a try.
The Chorley EA I binned off was £500 min. Otherwise it would have been sitting there with £1. Don't know about their other accounts.

Good luck with that. Chorley BS say

We can refuse to open an account without being obliged to give a reason.

Though if you are an existing customer and live outside the stated geographic area, Chorley's online application form will through a wobbly..

Cynergy normally do this on a Friday, so good for them, although it does make it 25 closed accounts now! :D
  • I've given up on Cynergy, I closed my account with them a couple of weeks ago. I just couldn't bring myself to live with their wacky process every time they released another issue. It's  been no great loss as there are plenty of other accounts now that can replace them.

Cynergy went back down again last time they went up... is this their new trick?

I've had issue 56 with Cynergy, It was competitive for 18 days. Closed it and never bothered with any following issues.  I still keep authentication device on my phone in case Cynergy will come up with something worthwhile to get engaged again.
