The last three characters of your account number are made up from the first 3 letters of your surname.

I would think in this case it is best to speak to Newcastle BS over the phone to check that they say.

Hope this is the right forum for this, but I just got a text message from SecureTrust Bank for my Access Account (issue 7), the interest is going up (finally):
    4.07% gross pa ( was 3.78% gross pa) / 4.15% AER (was 3.85 AER)

This is going up from 04-JUL-2023.
Doesn't show on their website yet.

I think what could be causing it is if OPs surname is down as O'Leary or something, some kind of O apostrophe thing. Perhaps they need to change it on their system to exclude the apostrophe, OLeary for example, to have OLE rather than O'L at the end.

My NBS account ends in X’X. When I’ve tried to set up a new payee NatWest is rejecting the Personal Identifier as it has an apostrophe. Anyone else had this issue.
On the snail mail letter I received today it says this:

Do you have an apostrophe in your name?

The IT system that NBS uses (along with Gatehouse, Charter Bank, SecureTrust, Ford Money etc) is shockingly bad in how it mishandles data. I don't live at House Number, Street Name, Postal Town so when I select my address from the drop down (which shows correctly), it screws up the address so the postal town gets removed completely. Sounds like the apostrophe problem is yet another example of shoddy coding and poor testing.
  • I think it’s an issue with NatWest as Halifax allowed me to put an apostrophe in the reference field
