I think it's highly unlikely they'd prevent people from paying into an existing easy access savings account that was no longer available to new customers. I don't know of any examples of a bank of building society ever doing that?
Don't think Nigel Farage can pay into one.
His personal account was nt affected.Business account only closed

Although posts will get quickly lost in the The Top Today's Popular Account That'll Soon Be Overtaken Anyway So Then There'll Be Pages of Posts about I'm Thinking of moving Back To --- Account Thread its worth mentioning that NS&I realised the last increase didnt keep up with BoE so the Premium Bond fund is increasing to 4% next month

Does Secure Bank Trust increase the rate of it's EA Access Account automatically or must one keep opening new issues and transfering funds to get the latest offering?
In this instance they were increasing the current issue 7. Don't know about rates on their other issues as this is the one I hold so they only referenced that in the SMS.

Sorry into the Newcastle BS account.
Yes. I paid 2 separate £1 into the account Wednesday and Thursday and they showed up quickly. Paid a few hundred in 11am today using account number but 5.5 hours later not showing in the account. If its automatic the number of people depositing should not have an effect of delaying deposits
Malchester, correct me if I'm wrong, you're the one who recently berated others on forum for chasing rate topping accounts aren't you?
From memory, was it Investec whom you were praising,"the interest rate isn't the be all, end all of depositing" was it that you said?
Personally I'd have refrained from saying anything about opening an account with others after those comments.
    Just sayin' like.

Thanks mebu60.  I can't see any historic or legacy issues anywhere so who knows what that means.  As an aside, I've not had an account with them before, would you recommend?  I see they do joint accounts which is what I'm looking for too.

They've been fine. Minimum balance is £1k so no leaving £1 to maintain account. They also write to you about every transaction which is a bit last century. Withdraw before 2pm for same day payment. Interest monthly, no annual option. Max deposit £85k.

Thanks again mebus60.  Sounds good to me.  The instant access thing not a big deal for me, as long as transactions within a reasonable timeframe.  Cheers.

Two letters just received from Newcastle - both totally useless TBH. One is thank you for opening account with acc details and the other is time to fund it.  No mention of authentication code to enable withdrawals. It just says when you first log in to carefully check the details of your chosen nominated bank before you transfer funds, Which obviously isn't possible yet.
So don't get excited when you get yours

You can actually check your nominated account, by clicking the 'change details' tab at the top of the home screen.
Scroll down, and see nominated account and a message to authenticate.

Yes you are right. But, first there is no need for your comment.  Second although I no longer live in the North East it is still my spiritual home and want to support businesses from the area. I still stick with my views.  I did not open the Newcastle Building Society account chasing rates but in support of a business based in the North East. I would not have tried to open a similar account elsewhere.
