Sorry into the Newcastle BS account.
Yes. I paid 2 separate £1 into the account Wednesday and Thursday and they showed up quickly. Paid a few hundred in 11am today using account number but 5.5 hours later not showing in the account. If its automatic the number of people depositing should not have an effect of delaying deposits
Now just had my funds I transferred this morning from my authenticated nominated account to NBS returned. Checked all details and they were correct. Don't know why. Not bothering and will see whereas to go.

Hope this is the right forum for this, but I just got a text message from SecureTrust Bank for my Access Account (issue 7), the interest is going up (finally):
    4.07% gross pa ( was 3.78% gross pa) / 4.15% AER (was 3.85 AER)

This is going up from 04-JUL-2023.
Doesn't show on their website yet.
Of course they are as I cleared them out the other day. Mostly into Cynergy at 4.12% so that won't be going back.

My NBS account ends in X’X. When I’ve tried to set up a new payee NatWest is rejecting the Personal Identifier as it has an apostrophe. Anyone else had this issue.
I had a similar issue with Barclays, making the initial payment.  For a payment to Newcastle BS, Barclays required a 13 digit reference - i.e. the account number.  But the initial payment requires the 9 digit reference number.  I could not find a way of overriding it, so I ended up adding four leading zeroes to the reference number.  Barclays accepted that - but I am still waiting for the money to appear in the NBS account.

Had a call from Newcastle BS earlier acknowledging my feedback via SMS (on the id check in the first instance especially as I was a recent customer and the absence of email option for the documents in the second) and that someone would get back to me from Complaints within five working days!
Will do well if I can turn this into some modest compo given that they can hide behind 'random security'. But knowing this was widespread on that particular day does smack of system meltdown. Await with interest. Even more so as compo is tax free, unlike my interest.

    Urgh..sod's law 🤑
I think the banks know that savers are currently very trigger happy in opening closing accounts. Maybe the interest "bidding frenzy" (hardly for now but hope dies last) can benefit savers for once. We need higher % 🤪

Others indicated when they would be increasing even if not by how much but Secure said nothing so they lost out.

Does Secure Bank Trust increase the rate of it's EA Access Account automatically or must one keep opening new issues and transfering funds to get the latest offering?

Yes and Coventry's cash ISA will be 4.1% from the 7th, which beats the current top picks - can't understand why they don't just increase it straight away like other banks/BSs do and bag the publicity.

I think it's highly unlikely they'd prevent people from paying into an existing easy access savings account that was no longer available to new customers. I don't know of any examples of a bank of building society ever doing that?
Don't think Nigel Farage can pay into one.
His personal account was nt affected.Business account only closed
