Not yet, I did the same and sent £1. The email says they'll write to me with my account number and user ID to log in online. Seems a little odd that it then goes on to encourage people to send deposits before they can even access their account, so £1 is all they're getting until then.Arthurian said:trooperdore, I tried to open the Newcastle account yesterday, too. Can you see the balance of your account yet?

NCB, when paying money in using your account number as a reference, do you only put the seven digits or the full account number such as DCD2277885SMI0

If that’s your account number, remove it from the post - hopefully it isn’t.2010 said:NCB, when paying money in using your account number as a reference, do you only put the seven digits or the full account number such as [redacted prior to posting]You use their sort code and account number, and then the full reference in the reference field I.e. User ID can be sent by email if you select forgot User ID. Don't think the same is possible with nominated account verification code, post only I thinkAidanmc said:Regarding authentication of nominated account for Newcastle BS before withdrawals can be made, i understand they send this out by post. Yes, monthly interest is calculated daily at 4.22%, and annual interest is calculated daily at 4.30%. But monthly interest is compounded monthly, annual interest is compounded annually. That's the difference. It takes 12 months for the interest on monthly interest to catch up with the annual interest rate.grumbler said:
I think you are mistaken. Both monthly and yearly interests are calculated daily.uptdale said:
The result is the same if you keep the account open for 12 months and the annual interest is paid in 12 months time. If you close earlier, you'd get a bit more interest opting for annual interest because you'd get the annual interest rate on closure.grumbler said:loko2468 said:spider42 said:You can choose whether you want monthly or annual when you open the account.
Thanks - in that case why would anyone chose annual over monthly? Doesn't seem there are any benefits? If it's monthly and you don't withdraw interest the annual result is the same as if it's annual interest. Some people prefer to see or withdraw interest monthly.
