Only snag is you have to keep the deposit in there for 6 months.

The £50 for £20000 for six months, works out an extra 0.5%. So if you can get over 3.5% on a six month notice account then go for that instead.

If the money will stay in there for a whole year then its closer to 3.25%.

    Thanks @ flobbalobbalob

Note: Cynergy rarely apply their new rates to existing accounts. And they don't keep the new accounts available for long... so if the rate etc. suits you, best get your application in early and at least £1 min foot in the door..
What do existing account holders (2.75%) need to do to get the higher rate of 2.9% ?

Open the new account and then do a "Internal Transfer and Close" in Online Banking to move the funds (plus interest) from the old to the new account.
I did this earlier, and the whole process was easy and fast. In less than ten minutes I had the new account open and the old account closed.

Tandem now have a 'Top-up' button that currently adds 0.20% for 12 months, making the Instant Access account 2.75% AER
I saw the email about this, but am mystified - I can’t see the button in the app at all.

Should be a light green horizontal banner just underneath the '£xxx Saved so far' bit

When you login it to the app, it's just below your balance as a green banner marked "Top Up". You might need to be running the latest version of the App to see this, but it was there when I logged in and I've not had the eMail yet.

Presumably this is the "exciting new feature we will be sharing with you soon" when they released v3.0.10018681 on the App Store.
