It's ok to link to the referral section , just not specific threads or posts ( which are normally said persons post ) .

A general "there is a referral section " is fine

A "head over to the referral section and check out my referral" is not
Just out of curiosity, what's the objection to linking to an offer-specific thread?

I can't really see why there's a distinction drawn between the acceptability of (in this case) 'the Santander friend thread is at <thread>' and 'the referral board is at <board>' but happy to be educated!

I was happy to accept further clarity that Board Guide has given, being as topic is continuing my belief was that :

Referral section is regarded as a concession, isnt visible until someone logs in, newbies once logged in tend to find/see it easily.

If someone posts a referral link on main board sometimes (not always) on purpose, report it and post gets deleted thus no dialogue about it, and thus referral section never gets mentioned/advertised from main boards.

If someone replies to a post on main board that contains a referral link. linking to referral board the offending post doesnt actually get deleted thus the person who posted referral link on main board has apparent advantage over those who abide by the rules.

Someone whether newbie or not when logged in shouldnt really need to be told where a sub-forum that can be seen easily by scrolling down forum index is

How forums with no forum moderator tend to operate is to report posts that break forum rules as opposed to hitting reply button. report.gif

I always saw this as unambigous:

"Any referrals on any other forum boards will be removed when reported, as will links to the Referrers Board from the main MoneySaving boards."

I know where the referrals board is. I made a simple mistake and I apologised.

I (wrongly) assumed that this WAS the Santander referrals thread given that the thread title didn't include text along the lines of "discussion only" or "don't post referral codes"

aau1 I didnt see your post had I done so I would have used report a post facility which would have avoided this thread going completely off topic.

https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showpost.php?p=75907507&postcount=743 caused all the subsequent posts when all that was needed was for the post to be reported. report.gif

You may have always seen it as unambiguous but some of us didn't and a board guide has now confirmed that there is ambiguity - since Browntoa had the decency to respond meaningfully rather than in an officious 'rules is rules' way then politely seeking further clarification doesn't seem unreasonable to me.

I agree with your other point though about inappropriate posts potentially being left in situ by being quoted....

If my switch completes on the 18th, is the URN switcher number going to be available before in a letter or can i ring up to get hold of it to fill out the form or is there another way to get it? Thanks.

You get that (begins FSW...) as soon as the switch starts. In an email. And in a letter.

As I understand it, you get the switch number as soon as the switch commences. You just can't submit the claim until the switch completes

As Santander reference to 18th June is entirely ambiguous as of now for 1 switch I have completing on 18th I intend to make the claim on 17th and also claim on 18th if claim form is still live on 18th. :)
