Do you have to wait for the switch to be completed before filling in the claim form for the vouchers?

Yes - you need to wait until your old account has been switched and closed before you can claim.

Also, make sure your codes are at least a day old before your friend requests a switch

I started my switch a few hours after OH received the codes.

Is your piece of advice precautionary (just in case they reject the claim based on switch start date being the same date as the codes being generated?) or have I missed something important in the terms?

Just to be on the safe side. The T&Cs say "...to be valid a Code must have been generated prior to the date the Friend applied for the Current Account Switch".

Going by the exact words, this could mean they could reject claims where the switch was requested on the same day as the codes.
  • Has anyone had problems getting the referral codes?

Both me and the wife filled the form in yesterday and received nothing... filled it in again today and still nothing!

I asked for mine earlier this week and got them the next working day. You don't get the codes automatically as Santander will only issue them if you meet their criteria. So bear in mind that there is a verification process and that you asked for them on a weekend.

All I can say is "wow, that's poor". They should have integrated it into their online banking so you can get the codes immediately. That also verifies the individual as a valid customer...

    Check junk mail?
  • Can anyone tell me what you need to enter online from your debit card when doing the switch. I have a Halifax account I’m switching from, I have a debit card but it’s out of date. If they just want the long number, fine. But if they want expiry date etc, I’m scuppered. I could ask for a new debit card to be issued, but that will take time. An added complication is that I’ve moved house since then.

    Thanks for any help given.:T:T
