When the referred friend applies to switch account to Santander into in this case an existing account can it be done over the phone and simply also tell the CS that he has a unique code under the RAF scheme to use?
You request the switch into an existing account on the phone. The referral code is processed after the switch is complete. See https://www.santanderreferafriend.co.uk/howitworks, and read the T&Cs in great detail before you start the switch.
With 5 donor accounts, each of us could make £500 of Amazon vouchers without opening more Santander accounts!? Five switch into my existing Santander account and five switches into his?;)
Haven't seen any reports yet of people switching more than once into the same account and getting the vouchers for each switch. The offer T&Cs don't prohibit it, so it should work.

How long does this normally take? I have successfully switched an account. I then went into the web page again and clicked "Claim your vouchers", entered the first code I had received from my friend, plus the other details, and submitted the information. However, the confirmation screen that came up said "Thank you! Your details have now been submitted for validation", and below that "Next Steps. When you get your email with your unique codes, share them with your friends and family and your hard work is done". So this seems to be suggesting that I have actually requested refer a friend codes and not claimed vouchers. On top of this I have since then (Saturday) not received any confirmation by email or whatever that any claim has gone in. Is this normal, and if so how long does it usually take to receive some sort of confirmation? Thanks.
Retired at age 56 after having "light bulb moment" due to reading MSE and its forums. Have been converted to the "budget to zero" concept and use YNAB for all monthly budgeting and long term goals.

yes, it's totally 'normal' :rotfl: Getting your voucher can apparently take up to 3 weeks from requesting it. One or two of us have received vouchers after a patient wait. You don't get any intermediate confirmation.

Those of you that filled out the details to switch at the same time as opening a new Santander account, how long did it take to get the email with the switching reference number?

I opened an account yesterday and no sign of the email yet. When I switched over the phone the email came through immediately.

The only emails I had for this were the account opening one, and then one for the switch completion. In between, a letter with the switch reference and a ton of T&Cs arrived in the post. As you don't need the switch reference until the switch is completed, I wouldn't worry. The entire offer requires lots of patience :p

Cheers Colsten. When I switched over the phone it was all email correspondence, did not receive anything in the post and like I say got the switching reference straight away, in fact before i had even finished the call to Santander. I shall wait and keep an eye on the post :)

I had masses of paperwork through the post, even for the switches done on the phone, for which I already had email confirmations.

One of the letters I received told me that one of my existing accounts has apparently been renamed into something-something-switcher. I can't see the new name as I have given my accounts my own names, and I didn't get that renaming letter for all the accounts.

Apart from the switch completion on day 7, there's no consistency in how they process any of this. As long as I get my vouchers, I can't get excited about the somewhat messy processing. Perhaps it's deliberate, who knows.

Amazon gift card claim code via email takes a couple of weeks from switch completion.

For today only Amazon have a £5 off >£25 spend which must be "dispatched from and sold by Amazon" so no third party sellers - put "BIGTHANKS" in promotion box at checkout. If you go via Topcashback you can also get cashback. This is for those who have just got their Santander amazon codes.
