i know and im at my wits end with it all
anyway third interview set up for tomorrow pm - I will be back in work as quickly as possible - and the commute for this one will be around 45 mins and same sort of basic/ commission structure as the others. I dont have so much experience in the industry but it's the sort of role that I have done many times before0 -
Hi Catandy - please please please consider bankruptcy. It's there to protect people like you. You are clearly doing your level best to keep your head above the water but you can't get blood from a stone.
As to your OH, I have many, many thoughts about him which I will keep to myself.Debt Totals July 2019::
[STRIKE]£350 Natwest Credit Card [/STRIKE]/ ]Now £0 (paid off and closed 04/2017) £15,500 postgrad loan from parents/ Now £7,000 £5,000 sister loan/ Now £0[STRIKE]£500 train ticket loan from parents [/STRIKE]/ Now £0 (paid off 16/02/18)[STRIKE]£2,000 Overdraft[/STRIKE] Now £0 (paid off 09/03/18) £1,967.83 Barclays 0% card Now £0 Total £7,0000 -
I spoke with stepchange again today and they suggested that I look at Bankruptcy - they have said the same thing many times before and I have always dismissed it out of hand. I'm thinking about it for the first time in reality - at this rate I feel like I'm going mad as I cant see the way forward with this and OH is next to useless in that he doesnt help in the slightest.
If I do go bankrupt then OH will be forced to do something - his income (or lack of) will be assessed along with mine when I get the assessment done for an IPA/ IPO and that is really going to !!!! him off but c'est la vie. infact I think this may be the impetus we need for me and OH to make a difference in our lives ie will we even stay together if this goes ahead. am I bothered about that any more - honest answer no, part of me thinks my life would be more settled and together with just me to worry about.
the first thing that is worrying me about bankruptcy is that SC said that I need to include my rent arrears in the petition which will then be written off in the process. if I do that I will be evicted and be homeless to boot - if I dont include the rent arrears I will be treating them as a preferential creditor which means I will be in trouble with the OR so again I'm stuck.
im going to go to the interviews tomorrow and see what happens from that im also going to post on the bankruptcy board and ask a slew of questions on there0 -
Hi Catandy,
I don't have much knowledge in regards to bankruptcy but didn't want to read and run so my two pence for what it's worth - is it possible for you to clear the 210 pounds rent arrears with the credit card and then start the bankruptcy? Would this mean that it wouldn't then be included in the petition so you wouldn't risk being evicted or treating them as a preferential creditor if you had paid it off before the process begun?
I can feel the anxiousness and panic in your post and although it's hard would urge you to just take one day at a time right now. You've got 3 interviews tomorrow which is fantastic! Go smash them with your product knowledge and experienceThen in the next few days I'm certain you'll have many options opening up to you and you can pick the one that works best for you. That will deal will the pressing issue of bringing in some money right now and then gives you some breathing space to think about long term plans in regards to a move and your relationship with your husband etc.
Just one day at a time. Keep positive and upbeat for tomorrow, you'll do great!

I understand how the rent arrears works with bankruptcy so that is a weight off my mind - now to go on my interviews and get myself sorted with a job.0

I think I have 2 job offers - 1 for sure and the other to be confirmed tomorrow morning. I'm going to take the job closest to home/ shortest commute and 1k less basic than the others but will give me a balance in my life. I find out tomorrow when the start date will be - I told them I wanted the 11th which is a week on Monday...
a busy and it feels fruitful day which has totally worn me out - never realised it was so tiring concentrating so now its time to chillax0 -

SOA done for new wage for new job/ commute spends - im working rent on the higher amount permanently to get myself perhaps a month or 2 ahead before I drop it down to normal payments - that will give me some breathing space if I ever end up in this position again. it finally looks like I should have some slack in the system if I can just get my head down and get on with the job (and not be made redundant again any time soon!). All my figures are based on the basic wage only so commission when it kicks in will make it better still and give me some leeway again.
tomorrow I sit and work out the order to pay things off and what I can afford without making myself stress about things. I think I may be able to put the bankruptcy on hold for a couple of months and see how things work out - and now I am off to bed0 -
Congratulations on the new job, sorry your OH is being less than supportive . I do think you should look closely at bankruptcy, as it would mean closure on the debts. Anyway, the new job gives you some breathing space, so well done on getting two offers!0
