Hi all, new Symbio customer here. I had an email with a direct debit change of amount this morning but no bill via email. I can see the outline of the bill on the website. Should I have received it by now via email?
    Thanks in advance

Bills and direct debit emails went out yesterday.  But if you're a very new customer you might not get a bill until next month?

Today's the day! I joined this morning. I've already had a welcome email sent overnight asking me to 'kindly assist' by providing opening readings, then an acknowledgement when I submitted them followed a few minutes later by my bill for February and then an hour or so later yet another email confirming the details of my direct debit which is set for Friday. Their estimates for my usage are about a third higher than I anticipate but of-course having seen this thread I knew what to expect, and in fact I opted for the fixed payment (higher in winter, lower in summer) which is roughly mid way between their estimate for the month and mine.
So far so good. They are very polite too aren't they - they even say they hope I am well in their first message of the day!

When you say fixed payment, do you mean variable payment?
I pay variable as per what I use or what they estimate each month LOL

When I applied they offered the choice of a variable payment or a fixed amount based on my estimated annual usage but six months would be a fixed higher amount and six would be a fixed lower amount to account for higher winter and lower summer usage. The winter payment is just under £54 in my case and the summer one £38. I suspect my usage in the winter will be slightly lower that what I pay for and it'll be slightly higher than what I'm paying in the summer, but maybe it's a bit premature to be talking about what'll happen in the summer!

I’ve done a comparison using Citizen’s Advice site and Symbio is the cheapest.
I have Economy 10 electric warm air heating but have put Economy 7 in the search.
The tariff suggested is Low Fair and Green with two unit rates but they’re almost the same cost.
    Unit rate 13.120p
    Night rate 13.117p
Not sure if this is Economy 7.

They're both pretty cheap rates though!
  • Symbio just took an extra direct debit payment without my consent. They say it's to 'clear the outstanding amount' but there isn't an outstanding amount and they've just put up my monthly payment because I was late with a reading and they inflated the estimate.
If I stop the next direct debit payment, they're going to say I'm in breach of contract and put my price up. But they're in breach of contract by taking money without my consent, aren't they?
    Any ideas, anyone, please?
    Thanks, Neil

Anyone who has had a extra DD payment taken needs to contact their bank to say that Symbio took the second DD in error and needs to refunded.
