Symbio Energy feedback

Do not ever use Symbio...(This is not my first post on these forums, it's just that my accounts keep getting closed/details changed).Symbio are not fit for purpose. They cannot bill correctly. Yes they offer the lowest rates but if you happen to miss a meter reading, they will 'estimate' your reading about 3-4x what it should have been. They don't take previous use into account, they stay it's based on an industry standard but I found out they seemed to thing I lived in a 12-bed house using electric heating all day even during summer. They can't even get a final bill organized properly. For example I submitted a final meter reading and instead of letting me go they reverted to their old bill, said I owed over 28 days worth of debt and have stopped me from switching. I don't owe the amount they say I owe because I simply haven't used that amount of energy.I signed up for an alleged 'Fixed' monthly payment...that they changed as and when it suited them, no warning, just bam change. They doubled it based on a single 'estimated' reading that simply cannot be correct. (Unless I used zero energy for a month and a half later.Your best bet is to consider another company, for about a tenner more a year Neon (4.7 on Trust Pilot compared to Symbio's 2) offers a great rate for high energy users at least for me (it's a no brainer). Other providers are available and you may find them to be cheaper so do shop around.0

This is a new one. Symbio have offered to pay £30 of my compensation for a late arriving final bill, but have refused to pay the additional £30 for not paying the original £30 because my final bill had an outstanding debit on it!

Agreeing to pay and actually getting the cash in your account are two entirely different things - please let us know when you get itNever under estimate the power of stupid people in large numbers1

They're definitely cheap I'll admit, if you're in credit now is the time to switch because they will put you in debt even if you're not in debt.

This is true! I was surprised they offered the £30 considering most people seem to get an offer of a tenner

Chef1980uk said:Same here. I got the estimate which saw them take 3x the normal amount out even though you could clearly see I was never going to use that much. As such I switched end of November and have been with my new supplier for 5 weeks and 4 days. Not had a final bill and I know the credit will be more than £100 in the account but there's literally no way of seeing the amount or how to get it back.Did you keep a record of the final read? You can manually calculate it. Pretty easy to do with electricity (gas is not so easy as you need to convert to KwH first). One thing to be mindful of with everyone staying home is that home energy use will increase.

Jeez, the more I read the more I feel relieved about stopping DD with them, but they are still blocking me from switching.

Can anyone help me understand what's going on?
I signed up with Symbio in late December 2020 for electricity only. I'm on the "Low Fair and Green Variable SE01 v11" tariff which is the cheapest available on the market for me. On Friday I got an email asking me to "renew my subscription" and to "select a new preference plan".
I've only been with them a month - why would I want/need to renew or choose a new plan? I'm happy with my existing one...If I had a pound for every time I didn't play the lottery...0
