Symbio Energy feedback

Indeed they cannot explain their estimating approach.
I've also asked (three times) whether in year 2 they will use year 1 actual consumption figures as the estimate. Even though the answer to that question is quite easy - it's either yes or no - these delinquent muppets are unable to answer it.0 -

What amazes me is that their June estimate was the same as my actual January or February monthly consumption

As others have said it really depends on whether you have fixed or variable payments. In my case they placed me on a seasonal variable contract in Dec which was supposed to mean higher payments in winter and lower payments in summer. The reality has been.....higher payments in winter and summer....... with no reference to my Eac/12 despite numerous complaints.Swipe said:What amazes me is that their June estimate was the same as my actual January or February monthly consumption
Their only solution to my complaint was a fixed d/d at a much higher monthly cost than I was prepared to accept, which also breached the contract I had agreed to in Dec.0 -
I've been on fixed DD since I joined. I was given the choice of fixed or variable on sign up.rags58 said:

My June estimate was way higher than either our January or February actual consumption. In fact higher than any of our actual months.Swipe said:What amazes me is that their June estimate was the same as my actual January or February monthly consumption
The point made above is an interesting one. Do people on fixed monthly DD find the estimates are more realistic, where Symbio doesn't actually receive any more money as a result of their overestimation?0 -
Nope - still random guesses which made my last bill £190 but as they only get £76.56 a month it's getting bigger. In reality I actually owe them around £35 which would have been a credit of about £26 if they hadn't faffed around with my DD in October and November.Qyburn said:

It should all come out in the grand reconciliation at the end of August
Never under estimate the power of stupid people in large numbers0 -
I have been with them for 15 months now so they have a good idea of my usage. Up until January 2020 never an issue. However since then their estimates have been very high and I cannot understand why they think my usage is higher than in the winter months. Goodness knows what they will come up with for the forth coming winter months.

Interestingly I got a quotation with another supplier a couple of day ago (can't remember who) but they came up with an estimate of my annual consumption "based on industry information" supposedly using my previous data - there was not option on their site to put in my own (as it had a rubbish tariff I didn't take a lot of notice)
However the estimate was around 400kwh in excess of my annual consumption in each of the past six years (it's usually just under 7000kwh a year) but this magical industry info had guessed it at 7400kwh.
If Symbio are using flawed data from the "industry" and then adding a bit just for luck then it goes a long way to explaining why there numbers are way out and that they aren't the only ones who don't have a clueNever under estimate the power of stupid people in large numbers0
