Does anyone know what the procedure is after the end of the six week period and also when the six weeks is deemed to run from?
Is it from the actual transfer date or are there numerous getout clauses that can suddenly appear?

I would do July reading as normal and photograph the meter reading that you send to your new supplier. Don't send it, or the final reading, to Symbio. Remember that their new terms and conditions that waffle on about photos don't apply until after you've left; your contract is under your original terms and conditions.....
According to the rules they have to use the figures that you send to your new supplier which are validated by a third party so as long as you give them the same figure as you give your new supplier there really shouldn't be a problem ......Just make sure that you've kept all the info that you possibly can from the time you started......your own records as they may not be available to you once you've left and keep your final bill and proof of payment for a several years afterwards.

Normally I would delete my bills  from a utility company after a year. Think it's sound advice to hold on to the final bill for a fair bit longer. My experience of Symbio has not inspired confidence in anything they calculate or in anything that requires a level of competence.

I've got bills for utilities going back to 2006, mostly pdfs on the PC . Doesn't take up much space on a modern hard drive !!
Mine go back to 2010 and cover eight different suppliers, as you say, PDFs dont take up much space - I take a backup copy every now and again as well just in case. (I also read my meter every Monday morning and save it on a spreadsheet)

I may sound like a sad old git but having the data to hand made the collapse of both IRESA and Eversmart a pretty painless experience, unlike those who still seem to be fighting to get proper bills and their credits returned and who don't have the info to challenge some of the demands that are being made
Never under estimate the power of stupid people in large numbers

Final bill due no later than 6 weeks from the switch date, refund of any credit within 2 weeks of the final bill. The compensation is meant to be paid automatically but, based on my experience so far with Utility Point, if you don't chase it, the chances are you won't get any. This is a given regarding Symbio.

    Completely agree.
At the very least we should keep everything for a minimum of 6 years (due to the timescales in the Limitation Act), but we should really keep everything, forever. Notwithstanding the Limitation Act, it is entirely possible that financial data from years back could still be relevant to a new claim.
A friend of mine currently has an ongoing issue regarding his employer pension, and proving that he made pension contributions over an extended period, beginning almost 20 years ago. While it is likely that he may be able to get it resolved eventually, he would be in a much less stressful position if he had kept a copy of all of his old pay slips.

@merchcon55 How long did you have to wait for your final bill while they still had use of any overpayments you had made?
Ofgem in it's wisdom stipulates that ac ompany must refund any money owed within 10 dats of a final bill BUT doesn't say how long a customer must wait for this final bill to appear! Seems another way Symbio can hold onto money that they have no right to, delaying the issue of a final bill as long as they like.
final bill was produced within 2 weeks - they did not have any over payments of mine

I've just hit the six weeks wait today, so will give them another couple of days and then stir them up!

When I was a customer, I found the best way to communicate was on Facebook Messenger - sometimes took 5 minutes to get a reply - sometimes a day - but it did work and any issues I had were resolved. Emails went unanswered and I don't waste time trying to call.

Meter reading just entered. My estimate was 495 units against an actual figure of 325.

    Symbio June estimate: 325
    Actual amount used: 114
My actual amount is 50% below 1/12th of EAC - No photo of reading sent to them as per their latest T&Cs which ridiculously requests one for each reading below 10% of 1/12th of EAC

Scores on the doors for June 2020

Symbio estimation of my usage: 37% above EAC/12 (adjusted)
My actual usage: 16% below EAC/12 (adjusted)

    - actually, I did my own estimate at the start of this month based on historical usage used at this time of the year in previous years. We were naughty and appear to have used 2kWh more this month than I anticipated we would (probably due to the warm weather last week).
