I'm still only paying my EAC/12 as a direct debit. The fictitious bills actually make no difference to me whatsoever - I send a reading, they come up with a sill estimate, put it on the bill but they are only taking my agreed DD. I really cannot see waht all the fuss is about. As far as I'm concerned they can guess all they like providing they just leave the DD alone - they faffed it about in November so they could have had another £50 in their account rather than mine if they'd left it alone.

We'll sort it out when the contract ends unless I decide to renew - which I might coz they are still cheap and I don't mind the sport
This is also the position that I am in, fixed DD and ludicrous bills which I just file away for the day when they go bust and I need to calculate what I actually owe, had my final bill from Eversmart/Utilita today, and it was almost accurate, give or take a few quid (in my favour), so I've paid and chalked up five failed suppliers to date.

Just checked my online account and true to their word they have put me on their 13 months fix. I know they over estimate but they are cheapest by far. I pay by variable amounts every month because by paying a fixed amount I am concerned they will only get confused at the reconciliation stage.

You are very brave letting them dip into your money at will. I'd change to fixed DD asap if I were you. I can't see how they can possibly contest the difference between the opening reading when you joined or changed tariff and the final bill closing reading.

Fortunately there is the dd guarantee and have used this before with them and I would certainly do the same again if the situation required it.

I prefer to stick with the random DD amounts because at least then the confusion from their mathematical gymnastics only ever goes back as far as the last bill. However, I fully appreciate that most people prefer the budgeting convenience of fixed regular payments and of course that's what I originally thought I was signing up for!! My first bill was EAC/12 and then it all went a bit weird and free-unity from there onwards.

Bill just arrived and as usual over estimated. Against a reading of 367 for last month their estimated is 500 units for June.  This is way more than I use for the winter period.

Looking on the bright side at least it's 30 units less than their estimate for May.

My bill just in and as this is the second month running that they have ignored my 1st of the month reading, I think it's fair to conclude that they've found a workaround to prevent the free units being handed out.  A shame, but it was fun while it lasted.

The ludicrous estimates continue, mine is EAC/12 +35% for June, which is still over 10% more than we used in December.  Symbio really are idiots.  Their "estimates" for the last 10 months exceed our entire Estimated Annual Consumption by 10% already, and we still have two months to go.  However, because April's crazy estimate has been consolidated this month, my payment is nice and low.  If I give my reading on the 30th this month, July's bill will consolidate out May and June's estimates - at which point, Symbio's computer may encounter a negative number and go up in smoke!

I have major frustrations with the way Symbio present their bill.  They are calculating to at least 4 decimal places and carrying over subtotals to that accuracy.  That means that the three sub-totals on the bill which get added together to work out your payment do not "add up" as shown on the bill.  If they want to work to ten thousandths of a pound, they should show all the digits on the bill.

In the spelling bingo game this month, it's just "payble" outstanding.  I'll give them a "could do better"....

my bill also arrived...least symbio are consistent with their  over-estimations, so no surprises. This is my last month with them, I plan to switch at the tail-end of this month, I can't believe its only been 11 months....feels a lot lot longer.....it's been an adventure/nightmare. Hopefully they wont have a further trick up their sleeves when I depart.

Symbio estimated 37% over EAC/12 (adjusted) for me this month
    - I wonder when the summer season starts for Symbio customers???

And as anticipated, Symbio have now already estimated I would use 108% of EAC, and there are still 2 months of the 12M deal to go.
    - not bad for a system them only introduced last December
    - prior to that every month was always EAC/12 (adjusted)

Oh well, yet another month of free electricity for me :)
