when you signed up for such an offer, wasn't the tariff information they sent quoting the discounted rate?

I really didn't pay much attention to the further discount as the unit and s/c were already competitive. I seem to recall that the further discount would apply to the standard advertised quote. It was only when I rec'd my 1st bill that I saw both the unit rate & s/c were lower than the original quote and just assumed they had applied the further discount .....
so much has happened in the last 10 months with symbio.......everything is just one hazy mare
Can understand why you thought that, but I suspect the lower prices were just an early heads-up of their incompetence.

I hope they don't go under in the next few weeks as their paid for estimates are now 500kWh ahead of reality because they ignored the latest meter reading.  At this rate, June's direct debit will be negative!!

I am wondering if they will ever catch on to the £52 I owe them for the time I was erroneously transferred away.  The guilty party paid me £60 in compo as well.

The fact they can go the best part of a year undercharging their customers as well giving free units away makes me think not!!

Bad news for all of you - they'll be tightening up now as they can't keep taking extra money from me, I'm leaving! Despite raising the fact that they were charging me a "standard rate" across BOTH night and day usage - so they could get extra money from me in the winter months where I use mostly nigh rate with electric heating - they insist I signed up for a single rate, who would do this with an economy meter? This option doesn't even appear on their website BUT they won't budge so I am! Sorry I won't be contributing to all your free minutes any more, even if I have to pay an early exit fee.

I do !  I use about 22% at night.  Sometimes single rate is cheaper, sometimes E7 is cheaper.  Many suppliers will happily bill at single rate, but Bulb now refuses.

I stand corrected BUT having said my night rate was 60% it would be strange if I had signed for single rate, especially with no mention of it on their site

Yep, you can't beat a bit of sport once a month when the bill comes in. Brightens my day.

So far they've billed me for the best part of 1000kwh over my actual consumption ,so they think I'm around £120 in arrears. That's since last September but whilst they just take my DD based on EAC/12 I'll sort it all out on 1st September when my 12 months is up and my account will just about balance.

We'll have a grand reckoning against my spreadsheet of actual meter readings and PDFs of all my bills. Should be a lot of fun when the time comes

Perhaps someone needs to explain to Symbio what Estimated Annual Consumption means??

I wonder if we should advise newbies to sign up to Symbio with EACx0.6, so that the ludicrous estimates would reflect actual reality?

Just received a reply from symbio today regarding continued overestimation, "apparently its due to the heat curve?"
"Dear M...With reference to your query, we would like to inform you that as per the meter reading submitted by you on the 30-04-2020, we understand that we had estimates your consumption to be 304.61 kWh units. However, you have consumed 169 kWh units, which is a total variance of -135.61 extra units (estimated). We have estimated your consumption to be 277.26 kWh from the 01-05-2020 to the 31-05-2020. However, as we follow the advance billing methodology hence why we use the heat curve and your Estimated Annual Consumption to estimate your consumption."
So happy they clarified it in a clear concise manner
    my reply.....
Dear Sir/Madam, Thank-you for your e-mail. You seem to have missed the point of my complaint which is your continued practice of overestimation and ignoring meter readings and their downward trajectory. I have no idea what the "heat curve" is, and I suspect neither do you, but I do understand that if my meter readings are following a pattern (see below) then it is not unreasonable for you to base your estimates on that pattern which is why meter readings are requested.
It is ridiculous  that you are now estimating that I will be using more electricity in the height of summer than in the depths of winter. You are being completely dishonest by failing to use eac/12:
"ESTIMATED ANNUAL CONSUMPTION" .ie approx 190-200 units a month, especially after stating that from April you will revert back to summer estimation rates.
Your estimates are not summer rates and no amount of "massaging" the figures with screenshots can justify your abuse to treating customers unfairly.
If you accept eac/12 and accept that my meter readings are now under 200 units then you should amend your estimate to reflect that fact. That is the fair and right thing to do
    Regards
