"Nothing haunts us like the things we didn't buy."regarding further discount on units and standing charge....the offer was similar to this one on their facebook page. I joined at the end of July and I do remember being offered a similar discount if I signed up with them. At the time I didn't really take much notice of the further discount as I was only really interested in the unit and standing charge which was very competitive and persuasive.

But when you signed up for such an offer, wasn't the tariff information they sent quoting the discounted rate?In my case the unit rate & standing charge on the bills have always been lower than the tariff information quote they sent me. It's only taken them 9 months to fix! If they've fixed the free units bug as well, life's going to get very boring.....1

I also signed up to the black Friday tariff and the 5% discount was already included in the quoted figures I signed up to.

By my calculation, their under billing could have been achieved by deducting 5% from the VAT inclusive price, which of course would deduct slightly more than the VAT element of the VAT inclusive price e.g a £105 VAT inclusive price less 5% would be £99.75 not £100.
Obviously, as unit prices are only pennies rather than pounds the difference is infinitesimally small but the figures would fit.
This explanation requires them to round to two decimal places despite them printing three on their bills but would explain the discrepancy between the original quoted rates and what used to be billed.
Their final VAT calculations at the end of the bill are of course correct.0 -
when in the billing cycle is best to submit a meter reading to maximize the 'free' units?0

For me, the first of the month has worked. However, they ignored my reading this month and the bill format was different to the last time they ignored my reading, so they may have fixed the issue??carpy said:when in the billing cycle is best to submit a meter reading to maximize the 'free' units?
What I find inexplicable is that they only ignore my reading when the bill comes out late (the 7th of the month). When the bill comes out on the 3rd or the 4th they always use my reading from the 1st. I cannot work them out!!1 -
Not a customer of Symbio (and never have been) but I always read this thread as I find it fascinating how an obviously totally incompetent supplier, with ridiculously cheap rates, can still be in business.

I really didn't pay much attention to the further discount as the unit and s/c were already competitive. I seem to recall that the further discount would apply to the standard advertised quote. It was only when I rec'd my 1st bill that I saw both the unit rate & s/c were lower than the original quote and just assumed they had applied the further discount .....when you signed up for such an offer, wasn't the tariff information they sent quoting the discounted rate?
so much has happened in the last 10 months with symbio.......everything is just one hazy mare0
