new unit price and standing charge now tally with the original tariff quote. Previously my bills were showing rates slightly less than the original proposed rates.

mine too......, but Symbio offered a 5-10%? discount on their advertised unit prices to anyone who signed up....I can't remember the exact % of discount.......but it was a definite inducement to take up their contract they offered :
" not only the lowest prices in the uk...but with a further discount of...%  on completion...was the spiel"

My bill - the 5th - arrived earlier today and I have just written back to them to ask how the Unit price and Standing Charge can increase on any fixed tariff...
Only up by 0.035 p/kWh and 0.052 p/day but it's the principle, of course.   >:)

At least they are only taking the agreed fixed DD amount each month.

I had to e-mail them and ask for my first two Bill/Invoices to be sent as pdf files - and get them to confirm they had got all my early payments.  That happened quite painlessly. Perhaps worth a try for others who aren't getting them.

Hadn't noticed the SC increase as the amount was so small my spreadsheet came to the same amount as the bill.  But it seems it does now tally with the original contracted amount.  I don't remember any discount being offered.

I have got them to change tariffs for me and is fixed for 12 months. 23p a day plus 10.65p per unit.

Also last month I used 380 units against forecast of 580 and this month they forecast I will use 530 units. According to them I am using more energy in the warmer months than in the winter period.

I imagine they will say they are simply billing you correctly now and perviously you had been under charged (admittedly by only fractions of a penny). They'll be clamping down on the free units next. I never imagined the electricity supply industry could be so entertaining. What might Symbio come up with next month?

Just had my bill. What a joke! Just glad they charge me a fixed DD. Last May I used 140 units, Symbio estimate I'll use 325 this May.

     - they have increased my unit price from 12.780 to 12.814. Not going to bother trying to sort it as I am in debit and it will all come out in my complaint when I leave them/ My daughter's unit price has also increased from 12.690 to 12.722. Check your bills folks !
Both my unit rate and my standing charge have also increased, admittedly by pennies 6-7p but that's a lot of pennies if they have increased those charges for all their customers......no notification. So much for a fixed contract  with no  increases during the term...sneaky!
I think they are now rounding to 3 decimal places rather than 1 in pence. When I use my standing charge(incVAT) from quote, divide by 1.05 to get exVAT then multiply by number of days it matches my bill standing order charge exVAT.

This months bill is still overestimating, but the layout has improved they are mainly no longer describing estimates as consumed units. They moved me to a fixed monthly amount against my wishes, but they have now added a unpaid amount to the bill, which they just seem to have picked the number out of thin air, without justification. The unpaid amount was not the difference between last bill amount and the fixed DD amount, which had me confused. After a while I spotted it was the account balance *if* last month massive overestimate had been correct.

My bill just in.  No free units this month as they've ignored the meter reading.  But not only that they've not estimated one either - they've just charged me another EAC/12+40% and done no consolidation whatsoever.  The last time they ignored a meter reading, they at least consolidated against an estimate, but they've just left that entire chunk out of the bill.

Their estimating is still ridiculous - for April they estimated 640, actual use was 355.  For May they're estimating 580, actual will be 350 or lower.  The highest ever actual monthly usage was 507 in December so they are just off the scale of stupidity.

They have corrected the standing charge and unit rate to those that I actually signed up for.  But as @bubieyehyeh points out, they're working to 3 decimal places, but showing intermediate totals to 2 decimal places.  So my unit charge and standing charge figures don't add up to the sub-total, but the maths is actually right because it's all being done to more decimal places.

In this month's spelling error bingo, there's no "calclulation" this month because they left that section of the bill out.  Quality Assurance's email address is now correctly spelt but "payble" wins outright as the sole remaining spelling error.
