I will be checking every kwh and daily standing charge against every penny I have given them when I leave. And hopefully that's the way they'll work out your final bill.HonestJohn said:

However those who don't keep their own records (specifically their start date & meter reading when they joined, their ending date & reading when they left, their tariff and exactly how much they've paid over the period they've been with Symbio) wont know if their final bill is correct or not, especially with all the faffing around that Symbio are up to
I'd also suspect that those who think they've managed to get "free" kwh will find that they'll evaporate when the "corrected" final bill arrives about a year or so after they've left (or when the receivers take over)Never under estimate the power of stupid people in large numbers1 -
Whilst I don't condone the practice of actively seeking free units symbio will be unable to reclaim these units after 12 months
Backbilling further then that is not allowed under ofgem rules. Also from 1 may they will have a maximum of 6 weeks to produce final bills or have to pay compensation. From where I stand it's virtually a certainty that ofgem will be pulling symbio up on many breaches of the code of practice
If they don't it's pointless they exist

I'd be more than happy to pay for the free units, but I doubt anyone at Symbio has the ability to understand how they've given them away. Fortunately I have a spreadsheet that tracks them which I could submit with my payment.
I would bet money that they'll be incapable of detecting any money owed for free units on a final bill because they keep resetting their estimate base point to the customer readings, so there is no "mismatch" to resolve.
I'd love to read the specification for their billing system just to see how they described the process of extending the estimation without associating any cost to it.1 -
You have much more faith in Ofgem than I have: they ARE pointless ! They've known for over three years that many suppliers give fake quotations for Economy 7, including big ones such as British Gas, but they've done absolutely nothing about it.Tafrock said:From where I stand it's virtually a certainty that ofgem will be pulling symbio up on many breaches of the code of practice

Some sites ask only for your total electricity consumption, so their so-called quotations can never be accurate. Others ask for day and night readings but then quote for a different night / day split, sometimes as high as 60%. This means that a 'quotation' for £3xx can easily turn out to be £5xx in reality.

I even emailed them with full details of my "free" units (which happened when I put in a mid-month meter reading, they calculated a variance but never charged for the estimate). Never received a reply. If Symbio really do read this thread there have been enough references to free units. It's not as if they haven't been told.Talldave said:I'd be more than happy to pay for the free units, but I doubt anyone at Symbio has the ability to understand how they've given them away. I was told when I first joined they read this thread on a Friday but would not comment on it. I invited them to set up an appointed spokesperson for this thread but they declined. But this was back in April 2019 when I joined. A lot of water has passed under the Bridge since then. My correspondent back then was Sam budhedo who departed in June. I doubt very much they read this thread now. As for ofgem. If you read what I posted I said it was that if ofgem don't get involved in the symbio debacle then it's pointless they exist as there are far too many possible regulation transgressions that need investigating

With reference to this £36.48 that was never credited to my account and as everyone knows this has been the issue all along. However after reading a thread on another site I decided to speak to my bank today and explained that Symbio have no record on the statement they sent to me of ever receiving this payment so the bank accepting what I said have refunded the £36.48 back to my bank account. So what should happen now I should get my new bill in March and will show this amount outstanding. I then by bank transfer send this credit back and that should solve the issue. But then again this is Symbio we are dealing with.Tafrock said:I was told when I first joined they read this thread on a Friday but would not comment on it. BTW Sam Budhedo was a good man and he sorted out a few issues for me when I first joined.0 -
So it was the bank's fault in the end?CRISPIANNE3 said:

The final bill will be generated from the difference between the reading on the previous bill and the closing reading. They won't even look at the opening reading.matelodave said:
