You could be right but surely the safety /mechanics of shopping in Aldi and Lidl is on topic. I'd like to think that perhaps Aldi would pick up on the issues. Isn't that why people post silly names like Mr T and Sainsbugs?duncanthedog said:Please keep this thread ON TOPIC otherwise it will be closed.1 -
The topic is about what is good or not to buy in the shops, nothing else.maman said:

Duncan, post number one of the thread says slightly differently to your view as above...Cornucopia said:Hi All,
This is the new Lidl and Aldi buying thread. Please report any good/bad deals, good/bad offers and good/bad products.
I've broadened the scope slightly, so that discussion of customer service issues and experiences won't be off-topic. But please remember that the thread works best when it's the sum of our knowledge about Lidl and Aldi, and not other supermarkets.
Thanks.

I'm sure that the Aldi system works as designed (although like other posters, I've only ever seen it showing Green whenever I've been there).harz99 said:Yes,sorry but this thread is about Aldi/Lidl not Sainsbury, my comments refer to Aldi's traffic light system of entry which is what an earlier comment and question was about. A simple unmanned electronic counter cannot know anything about bubbles/families/children/adults, it just counts the number of people in or out!
I assume that it works not by counting people (which is technically quite complicated) but by counting the number of times the exit doors are triggered by one or more people passing through them. Similarly, when the entrance doors open, one or more people may pass through. That is probably good enough, especially if there is overall supervision from the Manager's office, but it isn't particularly sophisticated.
It's a whole lot better than my local Lidl, where they replaced the security guard some time ago with a small, handwritten sign saying "one customer out, one customer in", which is routinely ignored.
Have seen automatic doors open with the weather - hot weather like we had in previous days and with very strong winds. Then get people standing by the doors which keep opening and closing as getting their shopping list out of bag etc. Would Aldi's door system count these door openings with people or not?0 -
On Friday, I bought a ready meal in Lidl with an orange 30% off sticker, which usually means the following day's date. Got home and noticed that it had this coming Friday's date plus on Lidl Plus app, selected 20% off Deluxe ready meals. Result!
There were other ready meals in the case which had orange stickers.1 -
Served up the Aldi specially selected Sticky Toffee pudding earlier this evening. Served 4 perfectly and was delicious. Beautifully moist and tasty and so easy to prepare (2.5 mins in microwave).Very impressed and will certainly buy again.NO FARMS = NO FOOD3

Included in their Pets special offers today in Aldi are packs of 4 mega bones for £1.29, easily as good as the Jumbone at a fraction of the price.0

I really like Aldi's sparkling water flavoured with elderflower but it has been missing from the shelves round here for ages. Has anyone spotted any recently or has it been discontinued?1

I usually buy a bottle every week. At 32p (or is it 35p) it's a bargain.Miró said:I really like Aldi's sparkling water flavoured with elderflower but it has been missing from the shelves round here for ages. Has anyone spotted any recently or has it been discontinued?
A few weeks ago, they rebranded those sparkling water products, and the Elderflower variety, which used to have a blue cap, changed to "Apple & Elderflower" and now has a green cap. I don't think it tastes any different, though.1
