    New product at Aldi:-

    Low-Sugar Granola - Plain or Apple & Blueberry - 500g £1.59

It's a bit lighter than normal granola - more of a hybrid with Muesli. Seriously unsweet, though, even the variety with dried apple pieces and dried blueberries.

More supply issues across both L & A. This time, it's Houmous. Aldi have none except the more expensive "luxury" version, and Lidl have a single variety from a new brand in place of the various previous options.

This seems like a weird one, because chickpeas can't be difficult or expensive to source....
Houmous was back on the shelf at Aldi this evening, although strangely there was no SEL.

Christmas chocolate reindeers were knocked down to ?59p this evening, and the nets of chocolate Christmas puddings / green sprouts / coins were down to 49p. I fully expect Lidl to follow suit.

  • Are Lidl still having problems with their own brand double strength squash? It seems to have been missing for months now. They have their high juice version but the double strength is no where to be seen.

Missing items could well be a Christmas strategy, steering people to more expensive stuff.

I might give this a try.
I don't like muesli - too 'pappy' for my taste.
And I don't like anything too sweet.

I have learned that even the nastiest, hardest muesli can be made enjoyable by leaving it to soak in the milk for 20 mins and grating half an apple into it and throwing in a few extra raisins. Bircher style muesli was originally made with grated apple, apparently, and I believe traditionally you leave muesli to soak. It's only the ones with all the toasted barley flakes ('Alpen' style) that go really soggy.
