Indicating is optional. Indicating on a roundabout is not allowed.
Its allowed but only if done in a vague way half remembered from your driving lessons. Turning right? Just indicate left at some point, thats probably enough.

The Highway Code back cover should read, Congratulations, you've past a driving test, put this in the bin (or throw it out of the car window) and make it up as you go along. Why not, you're now a driving expert.

You can stop for your mates / pick-up wherever you want so long as you remember to switch your hazards on.

    For cyclists:

If there is a specially constructed cycle track, always use the road instead.
    For motorists:

Always moan about cyclists regardless of what they are doing. You're a motorist, you know best.

In order to prevent drivers behind from choosing the best lane at traffic lights under no circumstances indicate whilst approaching or stationary. Only indicate when the lights change to green.
Funnily, i've been pondering a small Caddy sized van to facilitate a side project i'm going to work on. I havent seen much movement yet, but in theory markets like pickups and vans are likely to be hit by the upcoming downturn.
Would be interesting to hear if anyone has direct experience?

Why? So you can argue with them?

A really good driver drives everywhere at the same speed. Don’t worry about going from A roads to urban settings then onto a fast dual carriageway- staying at the same speed at all times allows for other road users to appreciate your driving ability. .

If you're driving 45 in a 60 and someone dares overtake you, make sure you continue to drive at 45 through the next available 30 limit and tailgate the overtaker - if they're in such a hurry that they can't sit behind you at 3/4 of the speed limit in a 60, they should be happily speeding through the 30.

Always use full beam so you can see further.

When approaching a junction to a main road, you must stop at the end of said junction and give way to traffic already on the carriageway which you wish to join...unless you’re late for work/Pilates because of your own laziness and poor timekeeping skills, which then you are permitted to edge out unnecessarily into oncoming traffic and believe they MUST let you out.

You forgot if you are Prince Philip!
  • (1) Professional drivers especially those with Private Hire plates do not need to worry about stopping to pick up passengers. You can park anywhere you like just use your hazard lights at all times.

    (2) Also don't worry about wearing out your bulbs it is perfectly acceptable to drive in fog without any lights.
  • If you are wearing a fluorescent jacket its ok to use your mobile phone and drive through a red light at speed especially if there is an ambulance approaching you with sirens and blue lights. (Witnessed today)

    1. Do not park on a blind bend, on double yellow lines, on zigzags, taxi ranks, where it would obstruct entry to a property, within 10m of a junction, on the brow of a hill etc - unless it will save you walking an extra few feet. Don't worry, the convenience to you far outweighs the inconvenience and/or danger to every other road user.

    2. Mini roundabouts are not roundabouts. These are simply a paint spillage and so there is no need to go around them or slow down, just drive straight over the top of it.

    3. The give way line is to indicate to traffic already on that road that they should give way to you - because you are far more important than anyone else so they should all get out of your way or slam their brakes on to make way for you.

    4. The give way can be easily mastered just by getting to that spot of the road first. It doesn't matter if you're encroaching onto oncoming traffics side and force them to alter their course or speed, you were there first so its yours.

    5. Ignore the half a mile tailback caused by you driving at 25-30mph in good conditions on a NSL road. Do not do anything silly like match the flow of traffic or pull in at an appropriate place to let them pass.

    6. When in standstill traffic you can either -
    a) hang back 50m and slowly move forward every few seconds, if you haven't quite gotten the hang of stop/start engines yet or
    b) act like a magnet has attached you to the car in front, if they move forward an inch then you must also move forward an inch, there is no such thing as too close.

    7. Traffic lights displaying an amber light signal that you should speed up to ensure you pass the line within 3 seconds of the light turning red.

    8. You should follow the roads edge as closely as you can. If there is a white line marking the edge of the road then you should most definitely use this as a guide - aiming to keep your passenger tyres driving right along the top of it. This rule should also be followed when turning into a junction or exiting a roundabout.

    9. Road signs and markings telling you which lane you should be in are trying to trick you. Dont give other drivers any inkling which route you might be taking. Pick any lane, don't indicate and act like you're going to drive past your exit before changing your mind at the very last second.

    10. Passing your driving test proves you are a good driver and can forget everything you needed to learn to pass that test.

    11. Anything not laid down by the highway code as a must should be ignored. Musts are to be considered optional depending on how you feel that day.

I think I'll stop it there or I could be here all day!
