    Morning Friday Friends,
Sorry to hear there are so many health worries, poorlinesses & low spirits among our number at the moment. Love to everyone. I'm frankly amazed not to have succumbed yet to my annual New Year lergy. Am gelling my hands like mad whenever I'm out & about - it really bothers me how many women I see vacate public loos without washing their hands - I mean, it takes so little time & all the science seems to point at hand hygiene as being one of the top measures to avoid illness. Ah well, that's Moan of the Day from me. Frugal things on the list today:
*Clean entire house using minimal products & washable cloths (done apart from vacuuming upstairs).
*Tweak meal plans for next week to get a quicker meal on an evening I have to go out.
*Write shopping list - done. We may go a bit over this time as I've spotted that we need cat biscuits. Cat got very fussy about biscuits before Christmas & was basically nibbling a few if he felt like it. We changed to a different brand (naturally more expensive) & of course these ones, in his opinion, are the Best Biscuits EVER to be bought for perpetuity & sod the budget. Better than waste, however, so I think we will see if we can purchase a bigger bag.
*Bake the sourdough loaf I mixed up yesterday. Just heating up the oven for this.
*Make a list of all the stuff I need to do in town tomorrow while I am parked for free at the supermarket.
*Downstairs heating off for as long as possible.
*Noticed we have a missing ingredient for the meal originally on tonight's meal plan, so have thawed chickpea & spinach curry from the freezer & we'll have that instead.
*Knit some more of my Stash Project #2.
*Wrap friend's birthday gifts - not for a couple of weeks yet, but I shall see her this weekend & it will be quite a heavy present to post if I don't see her again before her birthday.
*Changed all bedlinen & household linens - all waiting for an overnight wash on the cheaper tariff.
*Read my charity shop novel - I can't put it down, which is always a good sign with a book.
*Sieved some cereal - I know that sounds weird - think I'll save that one for my dfw diary update!
    Have a good day all,
    F x

Enjoy it, Ziggy! I love a good scandi-crime novel & I am about half way with this one! Hope you enjoy it too! No spoilers from me, in case I am further ahead with it than you. Have a reading & knitting afternoon planned for when I've finished my job list, which is nearly done xx

  • It's very quiet on here today - hope everyone is OK?

Just general 'housey' things today. Batch cooked some YS mince with some onions/veg/lentils and made 4 shepherds pies with some old sprouted potatoes - 1 for tonight and the rest in the freezer.

Mount Washmore reduced slightly with everything on the ceiling airers.

Heating off until the kids came home.

Brown bananas made into banana bread for afterschool snacks.

Swim, sauna and fitness class to justify membership and improve my state of mind on my day off.

Other than general tidying and faffing around, not much else going on! Going to work on a little bit more of DS1 crochet scarf.

Disappointing amounts of snow in this area of Wales, but I'm hoping enough will survive for some sledging tomorrow - free and fun!

    Take care all. :-)

Yesterday we started to tackle a ginormous frog, I expected to only manage a small bite yesterday but I reckon we have conquered at least 50%. This frog is difficult not just because of its size but also because it needs both of us to tackle it at the same time, which is problematic. Hoping for a tiny nibble today, will be dependent on OH's health.

    Today's list:
    PAD Done
    NSD Done
    Make porridge Still to do
    Make bread Done
    Light stove Done
Put kettles on top for free hot water Done
Home educate children for free Done
Food and drink from stores Done
    Stick to meal plan Done
Quick check of fridge to ensure nothing goes to waste Done
    Check bank accounts Done
Dry washing overnight on airer in front of the multi fuel stove, the fire will have been allowed to go out earlier, but there will still be plenty of heat remaining. Still to do

I am planning on spending a couple of hours together this evening playing board games. Decided to play this morning instead

    Hey all

Dawn - sorry to hear you need a referral but glad you're in the system
Big hugs to all those low or poorly
Foxgloves - when I was out near my mum's the dirty mare in the cubicle.next to me didn't wash her hands. Number one way to get hep A

Feeling good and relaxed today. Was a bit stressed yesterday and Thursday. Was bursting to tell OH about the car and he got home and the wipers have stopped working on our current one. This has been fixed with a new fuse (very mse) but in his tinkering he has managed to turn off the passenger side air bags

    Today's mission:
    • b/l/d from stores - done
    • big shop - done
    • carry shop home instead of taxi/bus - done
    • small shop at local diy store for some essentials - done
    • heating off all day - done
    • washing pegged out - done
    • crochet - done

    Have a good one all

    Afternoon all,

Not a lot happening in the LL household today. Ds1 is at a friends for the afternoon, ds2 is playing online with his friends and dh & I are watching the rugby.

In the way of small things
    * no spend day, told everyone its a use up day, they can have whatever they want so long as its in (and they help with preparing it!)
    - 3 lots of ys bread for toast this morning and another sachet of oatsosimple used up for breakfast
    - ds's had cheese toasties for lunch with salad from the fridge for lunch
    - dh had a tin of soup (that was a claimed item in tenant clean up)
    - cheese and crackers for me.
    - ds1 out for tea
    - ds2 is having the last two chicken drum sticks and the last few oven chips for his tea with the rest of the salad
    - dh and I are going to have the chicken/potato curry thing I froze the other day - my fridge will then be wiped out.
    * dishwasher on the quick wash
    * heating only just gone on, we've made do with extra layers up til now
    * rm survey done
    * rang my parents to ask if we could go over theirs tomorrow instead of them coming to us :)

Hope everyone is doing ok. Take care all.

    Still need to
** sew up another whole in ds1s school bag, its only a small one this time thankfully!
Sticking with the "Small things" thread to keep up us on the straight and narrow.

    Afternoon all :)
DD2 and kids have just gone. Baby GS is ill again, and DD and her OH are getting very little sleep :( She does find it all a strain. I would take him overnight (he is as happy with me as with his mum) but I couldn't cope with that atm :( Anyway, I have had him for most of the day, fed him and got him to have a sleep.
    Other things:
Knew that DD would appear, so made a few things to keep everyone happy:
Soup - a bit indifferent this one, but OH really likes it (just as well as there is loads left)

    Cheese scones
Pancakes (the small drop scone type) DD took the rest of these home for breakfasts for the children. They cost virtually nothing to make, a batch makes loads, and I have never yet met a child who doesn't love them :)
Managed to get that done before kids descended, but haven't really done much else :o It has been sunny today, and most of the snow has gone. However, there is a lot of water about (because there was quite a lot of snow to melt), and it is forecast to freeze really hard tonight, so I think we will give the Sunday market a miss for tomorrow, as the roads will be dreadful . Warmer and wet next week apparently though!
I have taken chilli out of the freezer for dinner, and haven't spent anything :T
Will take some of the toys back upstairs in a minute
    Clear up kitchen (again)
    Clear up kids' mess

Fold up the fireguard and put it away

And sort out the RM surveys stuff for next week
    Better get on with it!
