Wow CLF, I don't think I could stand being in the hairdresser's for 5 hours  I struggle with 20 mins, but I guess it shows :rotfl:
Not a good night, and off to the doc's later as I have some worrying symptoms :( However, weirdly, I am more or less ok during the day  so I am determined to get some things done. Just wish whatever it is would go away!
    So:
Dry washing taken off airer, folded and put away

    Brown banana with breakfast
    Check banks and update spreadsheet
    Clean up kitchen
Peg out new load of washing - hopefully it will dry a bit!

Clean stairs, as new stair carpet is being fitted this afternoon. Not MS, but the old one is getting worn, and the stairs are of the old, steep, narrow variety which need to be kept as safe as possible!
    No spends planned
Plenty of stuff in for lunch

Mushroom risotto for dinner - I think DD and GD are coming round, so need to check if DD likes this. GD will have pasta and mixed veg whatever happens :rotfl:
Hope everyone has a good day :)

Haha you're like my mother in law. She gets me to dye her hair at home and she p!sses and moans after 5 mins :D

5 hours is a bit long for me. I can happily do 3 but the no glasses is a big problem. my eyesight is very bad. I am -8 dioptre in both eyes (short sighted) but essentially I can only see clearly to about 4" from my face. So as you can imagine, I don't often take my glasses off unless I'm asleep!
Before anyone suggests contacts, I have tried them a couple of years ago and I hated everything about them :o

Sorry you're not feeling good, but well done for biting the bullet and getting to the docs

  • Since I got the payout for onepoll the payment threshold has gone down to £25. I gotta say this is much more motivating than £40. The little green line at the bottom is much more motivating with the threshold being lower meaning even just a few pounds lights up green. I was almost at the point of ditching onepoll but now feeling more inclined to stay.

    Well done onepoll!

    Afternoon all,

Dawn, I hope the drs can help you feel better
Ally, I hope that today goes ok.
Dnms, Can you book an appointment for next week and cancel if feeling better?

Its very cold, the sun hasn't got to us yet but one of the kids schools has messaged to say kids are finishing at 1.45pm and the other school has cancelled after school activities. So just a quick check in from me before ds1 arrives back.

In the way of small things
    * ds1 had ys bread and eggs for breakfast
    * ds2 had free school breakfast
    * gym done and refilled water bottle twice
    * popped to asdaaaa, dropped some cloths in the charity bin in the carpark, took back some trousers I'd ordered for the kids but weren't a good fit and picked up some bread and milk
    * omelette again for brunch, just with some cheese today as the fridge looked a bit bare!
    * round to rental house, cleared some rubbish from the garage but then felt too cold and a bit light headed so came home for coffee and a catch up instead

    Still to do
** check banking/update spreadsheet and email it back to me as a back up
** decide what we are eating tonight I have a couple of things in mind
** washing off radiators and put away
** heating not on til the kids are home (I am currently wearing an extra jumper, a hat with my jumper hood over and a fleecy blanket over my legs!)

Then I think it will be cwtches, hot chocolate and a film when everyones home safe.

    Take care all.

  • Evening all, hope everyone is keeping warm in this weather - it's blooming cold!!! We've been waiting all day for the snow but nothing yet, only the dregs from earlier in the week. It's my day off tomorrow and I have a lot of things planned, so I'm really hoping the school stays open until at least lunchtime! :p

Yesterday I washed the car ready for the (now cancelled) MOT. I nearly took it to the car wash, but decided to save the money. I need a ladder to reach the top, and we don't have a hosepipe, so it turned into a mini workout as a bonus.:money:

My exam has been cancelled tomorrow, so feeling strangely unsettled now I don't have to spend the evening revising. DS2 is at Cubs until 8pm, so I might head out for a swim before picking him up. It might help with my restlessness.

Payday today and I had an unexpected, albeit tiny, bonus in my pay packet. So I unashamedly bought myself some chips in the canteen at lunchtime with it. :D Not hugely MSE, but an end-of-month treat.

Need to go through the mega-money spreadsheet tonight/tomorrow and set budgets for the month. We threw everything at clearing the interest-charging CC with the rest on 0%, so we feel a bit of breathing space now. It's time to really focus on the moneypots etc and plan equal payments to clear the 0% before the promotional period ends. For the first time in ages I'm feeling in control money-wise! :j:j

Other wise I think it will be a lazy evening. DH has already done the washing/cleaning and the kids are zoned out on the Nintendo after their swimming lessons.

Heating is very much on I'm afraid, but turned down in the bedrooms until later. The 6th, yes 6th, plumber has let us down :-( So I'm sitting in the un-heated Room of Doom with 2 blankets and a hot water bottle, with a draught excluder in the doorway to stop the cold seeping into the rest of the house. Getting very fed-up of this now, I don't know what it is about the job that is putting people off. Plumbers quickly come out to look at the job, never to be seen again!

I've started looking into PPI, as although I'm convinced I've never had PPI, I thought I'd better check. I've filled in the Banks' own PPI enquiry forms for free, just in case they yield anything. They will search their records and see if there are any PPI products linked to my past loans. I'm pretty sure everything is fine, but you never know - they might have sneaked it in somewhere.

Raised a claim for a Quidco purchase that hasn't tracked - fingers crossed.

Think that's it - not much else to report really.

    Stay warm folks!

    Morning all :)
Didn't update yesterday, as it wasn't the best of days. Dr referred me for a CT scan re my worrying symptoms and the carpet fitter has messed up the stair carpet - I have the manager from the shop coming to look at it next Wednesday, but they have already agreed that part of it will have to be redone :( It is the shop that did the whole house before we moved in, and were great - and that is why I decided to use them again rather than a cheaper outlet. It is a rather posh shop (we are quite near Bath) and to be honest I was suprrised at the workmen they sent this time. The senior one was on his phone the whole time and his language was awful  Now I can cuss with the best of them, but would not think it ok to do so in a customer's home! My grandchildren weren't here luckily, or I would have needed to have a serious word  Anyway, the good news is that I haven't paid a penny yet :D And won't be doing so until I am happy. I do love the actual carpet though, and can see it will make a huge difference once done properly.

Anyway, enough moaning and onto today!
We have had snow, and it is now snowing quite heavily again. I don't need to go out and shan't be doing so. Even taking the dog out looks to be a step too far, for the dog anyway! When I let him out this morning he wouldn't go down to the bottom of the garden where he normally wees, just made it about of a third of the way down (and we don't have a big garden), and rushed back in asap. Once he got in he went absolutely mad rushing about and barking. Obvs quite enough excitement for one day. In fairness, even though the snow isn't very deep it does come half way up his body :rotfl:It snowed quite heavily nearly all day, and we ended up with several inches. The roads were bad and most of the schools (and many of the shops etc) were closed. Mid afternoon it turned to sleet a bit, and started to melt, but it is freezing again now, so the roads will be worse tomorrow morning I should think
Will wash hair in a minute and let it dry naturally Done
Wood stove will likely be lit early today! It was!
All food from home, leftover risotto for lunch, and probably tuna steaks from freezer for dinner :)Done

Need to do a bit of ironing  Done
List a couple more things on ebay Managed one :o
    More coffee first though!
    Pretty lazy today tbh :o
  • Dawn sorry to hear you have been referred but glad you are 'in the system' for an appointment, hopefully it comes soon and gives you some peace of mind. Thinking of you. Grrr to shoddy workman, at least you haven't paid. And language  unnecessary at that time and place.
Determined and Ally hope you're both feeling better. Big hello :hello: to everyone.

Well today is payday :j plans are :

Travel to another town for a meeting, nice for a change. Hopefully won't be there too long
Big money shuffle and get all my pots straight and sheet updated
    Next weeks meal plan
Mince out of freezer for tea
Used some spinach and kiwi fruits in a breakfast smoothie, also some ground seeds from use up box
Check for surveys and postcode lotto
Man coming tonight to talk about a frog
    Packed lunches all round
Freeze some potatoes and swede if I don't use them in tonight's tea

Think that's about it. Have a good day everyone. Purps.

    Morning all,

Well the heavy snow that we were forecast yesterday didn't arrive, we just have a light dusting :)
Dawn, sorry to hear about your crappy day yesterday

    Todays list
    * paid road tax online as I'd messed up the direct debit
    * ds1 had ys bread and eggs are normal for his breakfast
    * ds2 had a sachet of the oat so simple that I claimed when clearing out the rental house last week
    * ds2 to school on the school bus
    * ds1 needed a lift to school as he had a dodgy tum (was ready too late to go on the bus), looks like he's taken after me with this one as I'm like this when anxious and I know he has a test today. He's messaged to say he's feeling ok now which is good. No gym as I'd missed the class because of this.

    To do
    * close off Jan cashbook Done
    * set up Februrary cashbook & set budgets Done, a bit of uncertainty this month with a few things but I've planned it best I can and have made a note to have a mid-month review to make sure we're on track
    * [STRIKE]run the dishwasher on the quick wash[/STRIKE] I'd forgotten I'd run and emptied it last night :) so it was a quick job to add in this mornings pots
    * run the washing machine on the quick 30 degree wash Done
    * radiator shuffle - heating not going on until the kids are home though Done
    * clean kitchen using stardrops/cloths
    * triage fridge Done
    * meal plan for the weekend Done
** taken the last two portions of that chicken curry thing I made the other day out of the freezer for tonight and kids are having pizza Friday again from the freezer x

Thats my start, I'll be back!
    Take care all.
