if you live in a hard water area the water marks might be shifted by something acidic based - i use lemon juice or rub half a lemon over the screen and it seems to shift it for at least a couple of weeks.

    Hiya,

I have a shower window cleaner that I bought in B&Q - like a proper window cleaner/scraper thing that has a sucker to attach it to the wall - when you've had a shower, use this to take water off the glass and you will only need to do that weekend scrub once a week to keep it sparkling !

Sorry but I don't think there's a quick remedy to this....

I have exactly the same problem which I tackle like this.....

I always keep in the shower, one of those yellow/green pot scrubbers that you normally use at the sink - the type that has yellow sponge and green scourer on it.

Once I've finished my shower, and before I get out, I rub the scourer over a bar of soap and give the glass a quick 'once-over', making sure all the glass gets a really good scrub. Then I just rinse it off with the shower head.

The trick is..... to make sure you then give it a quick wipe down with a dry towel or cloth to dry it off as much as you can.

Make sure you don't leave any water to dry on the glass, because it's this that will leave the marks.

It may sound like a pain but honestly, once you get into the routine, it just takes a couple of minutes at the end of each shower......

  • I use one of those squeegee things too, and have never had to scrub my shower screen (it was new about four years ago) as a result. Takes seconds after your shower and makes all the difference - I live in a really hard water area. Also I read somewhere (not sure where) that using shower gel rather than ordinary soap leaves less scum - I always use gel so don't know whether that's true or not, but may be worth a try.

Just had to look at my shower door to see how clean it is :D

Hubby always uses a squeegee thing after his shower but I use Mr Muscle's Shower shine. You just spray it on and it disperses (sp?) the water.

I use cilit bang - find it's the only thing to remove hard water stains. I've tried those shower sprays that you spray on the glass after having a shower but they're as good as useless

I use a body scrubber that I got as a christmas present (didnt like it !) and shampoo that I dont use any more. Then I just give it a quick rinse with the shower head and it is very sparkly!

The wife has one of those squeegee things in the shower - and a naked idiot who uses it:o . I think she finds the effect amusing - as she lies in the bath!

To be fair she does dry out the cubicle afterwards - and it (the cubicle and glass!) never need a scrub.

But it has crossed my mind that the rubber thing holding the squeegee to the wall ..... isn't the only sucker in the shower cubicle.
If you want to test the depth of the water .........don't use both feet !

Be careful using shower shine on the glass and leaving it to run down especially if the shower is over the bath, its ok on a white bath, but it took the colour out of our bath in our last hose, do not use it any longer, I use a wiper blade to squeeggie the water off and then dry with an old linen tea towel.........an ovvasional srpay with vinegar and water makes it sparkle.

We use a squeegee and then a mixture of white vingar and water in a spray bottle - then wipe it with a micro-fibre cloth. The shower door comes up lovely and clean.
