I think all of the posters on this challenge have done well to keep on posting especially when we don’t feel very happy with our achievement on any particular week .It takes courage to keep going when we don’t see a loss and it helps others to not feel so downhearted too. It has helped me to read about other people’s challenges and solutions they have found to achieve a way forward . Just to be part of an understanding and friendly group has helped me enormously .

Having said all that I have barely reached half of my goal BUT I do weigh less than ten weeks ago and that will do for me ! Final weigh in in the morning for me and I don’t think it will be huge !
Thank you Cranky for leading the challenge and for encouraging us along the way and telling us that to be human is OK .

I would certainly like to join the next challenge if there is one going.

I completely empathise with all struggling at the moment and I am positive mental health has a lot to do with how easy or hard we find it to remain disciplined around food.

I am at the moment closeted in the bedroom which is furthest away from the kitchen in a bid not to give in to temptation to nab a few squares of chocolate my DH was eating 30 minutes ago. One thing I find that helps is to brush my teeth. That tends to allow me to forget about eating for a while particularly something sweet.

There will be another challenge. I think we've learned a bit about ourselves this time round and hopefully we can help and encourage each other in the next one. At the very least it's a safe space where you can admit that you can't control the eating demons and discuss it with friends who are familiar themselves with the issues that you are facing. If anyone wants to make their goal zero so anything over that is a win then I'm happy with that - I've done it several times myself.

Katiepants, don't bow out, just make it a nil return......and don't be mean to yourself. If it was easy we'd all look like Twiggy and there wouldn't be any need for this group.

The experts who say "just eat less and move more" need to look past that trite little phrase at actual real people....people racked with pain from arthritis who would love to be able to move more, diabetic people with unbearable sugar cravings, people with mental health issues....ok, I won't do the full list but you get the gist of it.

For anyone who thinks that they didn't do that well this time round MrsLottie (and myself) for instance may have lost the weight of 4 bags of sugar but pick two up in each hand and try carrying them everywhere you go for a week.....they would soon become very heavy and cumbersome.

Sorry, I've neglected you all - I've been a bit busy this week. I've been clearing my friend's garden - depression led to her piling rubbish up in the garden and then by the time she felt better she was too embarrassed to ask anyone for help. In my usual manner I let myself into her back garden, told her to stop worrying because I'd seen it and I'd sort it which I am doing but goodness, I'm shattered. It shouldn't take much longer - the rubbish is nearly all gone then there's just normal gardening. My friend by the way is a very clever, very well educated doctor so life can get the better of anyone occasionally, even people that can look like they're coping.

One more thing.....do we want to start a new thread for our next challenge or do you want to carry on on this one?
  • I’m back from being MIA last week. I did gain as it was my birthday ALL WEEK apparently
But we don’t talk about that.

So I have lost again this week and on balance I am -1lb.
So happy me. Just wish I hadn’t had my two silly weeks or I’d have made target.

Where do we find the next challenge or will it follow on here?

Personally I would prefer a new thread as it would be a fresh start.

Me too dumpling but I thought I'd check to see what everybody else preferred. A new thread would be like drawing the line....

Wonderful words of support as always Cranky :)

I don't mind if we carry on here or have a new thread.

I’ve lost another 1/2 lb again to finish with a small flourish ! I would like a fresh start with a new challenge please Cranky .
This time I will factor in my week’s holiday in June .I always put on approximately 3 lbs per holiday week and start to worry about it coming up to the holiday .So I’m going to take that worry away and go for 1/2 lb a week loss except for the holiday week .Ive come to realise that for me , at over 70 years 1/2 lb per week is about right and I can cope with that .

Meant to say also Cranky that I know you told us about your friend to help us realise that even the most well educated person has their own demons to bear but it also shows us what a good friend you are and an example to us all - I know I sometimes I get lost in my worries often around weight loss and I know there is so much more to living and helping others.
