Hope you're feel better tomorrow Dumpling, well done in drawing a line after lunch and eating a healthier dinner it would have been easier to write the day off and carry on comfort eating. Unfortunately comfort food is never fruit or veg but sugar and fat.
Cranky I seem to be missing a -1lb for last week and the minus numbers are few and far between for me
B - usual porridge and fruit
L - HM chicken soup and crackers. Stewed apple, plums, blackberries and custard
D - Gong Bao chicken and rice with runner beans and broccoli
S - cupcake - another birthday in the office
Work today wasn't so manic as last week so I managed a 45 min walk lunchtime in the lovely sunshine, it definitely makes for a better afternoon if I can get outLife shrinks or expands in proportion to one's courage - Anais Nin0 -
Sorry Brambling I've fixed it now:o I'll do the losses for this week so far tomorrow.0

So, quite a few of us ex teachers on here. MrsLottie, my DH is a headteacher of a couple of primary schools. Only another year until retirement but I watch him day in and day out giving the job his all, fighting tooth and nail to give the children the very best education they can get. It's a very poor inner city area and funds are being cut so it's becoming harder and harder. Fighting off the academies, coping with lots of children and parents with mental health difficulties and trying to develop the whole child is becoming nigh on impossible. I'm very happy for you to have found a different path. I can't wait for him to do the same.
I'll try to stick to a healthy diet today.
B - sourdough toast
L - omelette with peppers, onion, cheese
S - fish pie
I'm going for some good portion control today. Not counting calories but using a smaller plate.
Good luck everyone.0 -
Good morning all,
I'll update the list later after my dentist appointment so just a quick post first. I think all of us who are struggling should make a list today of what we'd like to achieve. I'm thinking I'll do a list for today and tomorrow, then a list for the week and an outcome of where I'd like to be in a month. I'm thinking that this will help us focus on ourselves and concentrate on what we need as well as the needs of everyone around us (other people and house stuff can be included in your lists too). I've had enough of mental chaos and wondering round my house thinking "I must do this, I must do that, I need a healthy meal" and so on but not getting any of it done properly.
If I'm in a good mood later I may even share my 2 day list :rotfl: I had to be rescued from myself last night by my best friend. I was still upset because I'd been to my little mate next door's funeral so I ate 4 mini crispy cake bites, 4 mini cookies and a creme egg, sigh. The cavalry called me at 9pm and told me to come online and chat so once I'd chatted with him for an hour I felt better and stopped eating. I wish I knew how to change my default setting when I feel really emotional from eating to something else. I suppose there are worse things.....when the HT was small he used to bang his head on the floor in temper. I bought a book called "Toddler Taming" and dear goodness - the stuff he could have been doing made me grateful he was only banging his head. I think emotional eating is probably a bit like that. It's self harm but not the worst kind of self harm.
Anyhow, today is a new day, the line has been drawn and I will eat healthy meals today with no chocolate or junk. dumpling the list making means you too my friend. You need to pay yourself a bit of extra attention. You are worth it, remember that. Right, I'll be back after the school run, the dentist and some list making.
Take care all of you and be kind to yourselves today0 -
Cranky and Dumpling, sorry you were both having bad days yesterday and well done for nipping it in the bud so quickly.
I'm another one who needs to work out how not to reach for food when things get too much for me. No matter how much I enjoy it and it calms me down at the time I know that stuffing myself with junk is going to lead to self-loathing and regret but I still can't seem to stop myself.
Seeing as even trying to organise things that I want/need to do into reasonable lists is causing an epic level of head spin I think it's safe to say that it's something that would be of benefit to me.
All I've got so far for today is do day 1 of couch to 5K when I get home from work and try not to beat myself up about the fact that it means I won't be going to the hospital to visit mum.
I know that I've got to stop trying to visit nearly every day because I'm going to run myself into the ground if I don't, which is the last thing my mum would want, but she's always so pleased to see me that I feel hideously guilty when I don't go in.
Best of luck for today everyone.0 -
Hi everyone,
I'm creeping back in to report a 2lb gain. I've had a bad [STRIKE]week[/STRIKE] 10 days due to a negative work situation, bad weather and generally just feeling overwhelmed. Incredible how a shift in my mental health affects my eating so much. I have eaten so much junk, and only prevented putting on more than 2lbs because of how active I have to be.
Anyway, it is what it is. I feel a bit as though I'm losing the same few pounds over and over again...Sealed pot challenge 11: number 5940 -

Izadora my pulled leg muscle seems better so I'm going to start again tomorrow with Wk1 Run1 and run it slowly. Good luck. You need a break from visiting for the sake of your own mental health. It'll give you something new to talk to your mum about when you next visit too.
katiepants there's a few of us that have been in the same mind set for whatever reason from a day or two to even longer. Have a hug and draw the line.....Is the work stuff sorted now?
I've done my list for today. It's a very short list but I've put my food on it too. I went back to bed for a couple of hours this afternoon as I hardly slept last night so I was very tired. Trying to stay awake when I feel like that leads to only one thing - eating. As a consequence my step total is very low today but I can live with that - it can be a final rest day for my pulled muscle before I go back to the gym tomorrow.
Todays list :-
Food....Breakfast : Cous cous, yogurt and fruit
Lunch : poached egg on small wholemeal toast
Dinner : M&S chicken and courgetti in some sort of sauce (took my friend shopping on Saturday and she talked me into trying this - it's a high protein meal).
Snacks : cooked chicken (left over from yesterday)
apple
bag of mini snack a jacks
Drinks : green tea, cherries and berries squash
To do : [STRIKE]Afternoon nap[/STRIKE]
some more cross stitch (present for friend)
some knitting if I get fed up of cross stitch (baby cardigan)0 -
