Weight Loss the Old Style Way Part 11

  • Hi all.

I've just caught up on the posts and it does feel motivational to see how everybody is doing. I'm sorry to see some of us are struggling with external issues. Losing weight is hard enough when everything else is going well, so when things aren't rolling along so merrily it's much harder!

I am still unwell. Having more or less recovered from last week's stomach bug, I am now in the middle of full blown flu, although I'm hopefully coming out the other side of it now. My throat feels like I'm gargling razor blades every time I
cough and I'm still full of snot (TMI??), but I'm starting to feel more human again.

My little boy is also on the mend, although he also has the cough. His is less frequent though. Is this what it's like when you have little ones? Sharing all your germs?

As a consequence, I've not put any effort into dieting, although I've not had much of an appetite. I have been weighing myself and after gaining most of what I lost last week, the scales are showing a loss again, but I won't get a true picture until I'm back to normal. My lo enjoyed some frozen fruit puree last night as his first meal in a week, so I'm wondering if it is ok to polish off the tub of (low calorie) ice cream that's in the freezer, for medicinal purposes, of course! I think the cold was soothing on his sore throat!

I'll try to check in more often now, as I do need to be getting into some proper kind of diet 'groove'...

  • What a lovely day its been - sunshine and up to 15C. I have had a very active day. I started with a 3 mile walk, followed by an hour and a half's tennis and then DGD for the day. She and I have had our usual fun filled time, which included playing at circuses, limbo dancing and hula-hooping, and having a picnic in a tent in the sitting room. We also made a list of exercises to do so she could earn sweets that were in the cupboard. Everything was in fifteens - ok when it was 15 seconds of star jumps or hula hooping - but the killer was running up and down 15 flights of stairs. We had to split that one into 5s as it was such hard work - I always join her in everything!!

Lunch: Smoked salmon with cream cheese, avocado, cucumber and tomato
Dinner: Chicken thigh with peas and half a jacket potato and butter. Raspberries with Greek yoghurt.
Treats: Small bar of dark chocolate. Piece of chocolate fudge DGD made when we cooked. She likes inventing recipes and this was todays.

    Have a good evening everyone.

  • Sounds like a lovely day Rose.

Well done on losses for those you have lost and sympathy for those struggling at the moment. Apart from my two slices of cake lapse yesterday I have been on plan this week so hoping for a good loss tomorrow. Away for the weekend so any tips on how to stay on my diet whilst travelling and away from home would be helpful.

Breakfast today was porridge and blueberries
Lunch was hummus and cucumber sandwich
Dinner was fish, potatoes and veg
Snacks were banana, apple and strawberries with Greek yogurt.

  • Logging my weight for this week and I am pleased with a -2 lb loss. That combined with the 5lb loss before I started this challenge gives me a half stone loss overall. I need to lose another half stone to reach my challenge weight loss by end of March. Hopefully will be back under 13 stone by the end of next week as only 13 stone 1lb now. Off to do a Legs bums and tums class this morning.

Hope everyone has a good day. I am off for weekend so will check back in Monday.

Sorry for being completely awol this week. My eldest turned 18 last Friday so we've had a good week of meals out, drinking and travelling (mainly to take her skydiving a 2 1/2 hour drive away). Managed to put the naughty/nice meals and days behind me and not beat myself up and lose heart, which happens to me far too regularly.
Anyway, I've kept around my calorie limit most days and have bought a heavy punch bag, partly for me to exercise and partly for my asd son to get some anger out.
So - 2lb this week. Really happy with that!

  • Stayed on course w it's the food yesterday but ended up with a small bottle of beer in the evening. Not too bad.

Today I went to a charity shop to try and buy a pair of trousers. Couldn't fit into my usual size. Very disappointed with myself. I could feel the extra weight on me yesterday at yoga as well. I really need to address this.

I went to the physio this morning too as I have a problem with my rotator cuff in my shoulder. Very painful treatment but it feels a bit better. But of course it made me want to eat when I got home so I had an extra piece of toast. :o

Well, I intend to have soul again for lunch and maybe some crackers.
It's supposed to be pizza tonight so I might make a very small one. With lots of veggies on top.

    Good luck today everyone. :)

Sorry that I've been MIA folks. It's a combination of half term and that my little mate (my 95 year old 4 ft 10 next door neighbour) died yesterday. It was expected as I found her quite poorly in October and spilled the beans to her loving family (really, that wasn't sarcasm, they all adored her) as she'd been hiding it from them. I won't go into detail, but we were expecting it. It's still hard though. Normal service will be resumed tomorrow.....

Take care all of you :)

Well, I'm totally fed up and there's no one to blame but me. I have put on 3lbs that I lost in the first two weeks of starting. I've been over generous with portions, not strict enough with beer and eating cake and crisps doesn't help. I seem to have lost my sticking power over the years. :(
So. A new day and a new start. I intend to stick to 1400 calories a day, exercise daily one way or another and record everything.
Maybe this time I can do it because I'm fed up. Really annoyed that I'm recording a gain on here.
    I begin again.
